Pretty confident we'll get pick 2 as compensation for losing leuenberger. It will be the afls way of giving us a priority pick without actually giving us one.
Pick 1 and 2 in the draft would get us weitering and schache who could be similar to buddy/roughead. Lots of potential at the moment but still too many spuds like bewick running around out there

Not sure you will get pick 2 unless the AFL really want to doctor it. There was discussion on the radio that he would need to earn aprox $550k a season over 4 years to be worth a first round pick, not sure any club would take that big of a risk with an injury prone ruckman. Could get interesting if they are given pick 2 aswell, Schache is a given but plenty have said Weitering is very keen to stay in Victoria and Carlton are heavily into him

No differant to Polec, Aish etc at Brisbane who didnt want to be drafted up there. There will always be people who for one reason or another dont want to move interstate.

Then don't enter the draft - not that hard to work out.

Or do like plenty of others do and go interstate for 2 years and let them invest the time and money into you before walking at the end of the contract.

The whole system is a bit crap, you grow up hating a club and the system "makes" you go and play for them, no wonder there's no loyalty these days. I don't have the answer but you'd like to think that the kids could have some say in where they want to play instead uprooting and moving to the other side of the country as an 18 year old, it's not the forces.

Pick 3 for Frawley was worse

you would suddenly get a whole heap of kids that have supported Hawthorn all their lives.

I think a draft plus free agency system is a good way to go

Maybe a choice of state to live in? Like LM said its a massive situation for an 18 year old to move away from family.

They potentially have the best on-ball brigade in the game, Martin is the hardest working ruckman in the comp, teamed up with Rocky, Zorko and Beams it is as potent as anyone's.
Their LTI list is savage and has been all season but they do seem a little light on talent around the ground, this is justified by the huge amount of players in the 18 to 22 year old bracket.
Rome wasn't built in a day and they seem on the right track, if Leppa is getting through to the players then I don't think pulling the trigger on him is warranted just yet, we'll have to see if the young list develops over the next couple of years, he was left to pick up the pieces after some horrible recruiting decisions.

I just don't believe Leppitsch is resonating with the players.
After Saturday's game he lamented "schoolboy errors" but he's been going on about mistakes and errors all season and it's his job to drum them out of the players.

This year we've acquired Dayne Beams, Allen Christensen and Mitch Robinson - all experienced and serviceable players - but Leppa has failed to elicit any improvement. Moreover they've gotten worse.

I don't buy the injuries excuse either. Look at West Coast. They lost Eric MacKenzie and Mitch Brown - two key defenders - from the get-go and everyone expected them to go belly-up. But unlike Leppitsch, Adam Simpson has coached with inspiration and vigour and managed to have his team IMPROVE significantly on last year. Going by that example no side can blame injuries for poor performances.

You lost Rocky for the majority of the first half of the season when a few wins could've moulded the team a little more and installed some confidence in the playing group. West Coast have a lot more seasoned players in their group and have more choices on each playing line than you guys.
I'm disappointed with where the Lions are and I don't even support them, I penciled in a top 8 with that midfield, I liked the inclusion of Mitch but I wasn't sold on Christensen, he tries hard and creates contests but I didn't rate him too highly at the cats, he's young though and seems enthusiastic, he might peak.
These are just opinions from the outside looking in, you'd obviously pay more attention to them than I do so I can see your points.

All sorts happening at Brisbane.
Jed Adcock has been told he is no longer needed and Leuenberger has been told to move on.

Wow with Leuenberger!

Especially given the murmurings that Stefan Martin might be looking to come back to victoria

Where did you see Leuenberger has been told to move on? Haven't seen anything like that at all.

Disgrace how they are treating Adcock, that is exactly why loyalty is dying and dying fast. Will get picked up by a contender
