I guess the diminishing crowds dont worry you at all.....

I tell you why there are diminishing crowds. The standard of Footy is ordinary. Simple as that. THe port and Crows are lifting the Standard, you should feel privliged to go watch quality footy 4 times a year.
Oh tipper, if you are goal kicker aren't you meant to kick goals? i always did, off and on the field!

The WAFL fans hate the fact EPFC has become West Coast's bitch & Peel ( who the hell were they anyway?) are Freo's feeder Team.
Having been to the VFL (standard is good BTW) the Crowds are less there than here & they've got more teams & more population.

The SANFL was a genuine alternative competition for FOOTY Fans, disillusioned with the 'Corporate Grab' that is AFL.
Unfortunately, the point of difference that existed pre-2014 has gone & with it the Crowds.

I can't speak for the other 7 SANFL clubs but I'm sure that the sole aim of MY club is to win premierships in the SANFL. Can you tell me the names of anyone who goes to a SANFL match MAINLY to watch player development?

Players at Port and the Crows were already playing SANFL, but spread around 9 clubs instead of 2. 9 clubs who's clear priority was to win a premiership (player development a bi-product of their club system). Not sure the lifting of standard is a valid argument.

In fact given the traditional SANFL clubs had to try and replace 5 or 6 AFL-listed SANFL guns on a reduced Salary Cap, would it be of any surprise if their standard had declined?

Understand why that setup wasn't ideal for the AFL clubs - But it's become our (SANFL) problem when it didn't have to.

Dog watcher, I'm very fortunate to know so people who actually have done something in there career and are still heavily involved in the SANFL. Port's actual line up saturday had 4 players omitted from their named side on Thursday evening. 3 of the 4 are afl listed .. Mitchell, Austin and Wagner. Haarsma, a top up player, was also omitted but played in their academy side. The rules for Port, according to the sanfl website, are "All PAFC AFL listed players (including Rookie listed) to play with the Port Adelaide Magpies support team should they not be in the Port Adelaide AFL team." Wagner is 189 cm, Austin is 195 cm. By omitting these two, instead of two top up players, port had a better balanced side for the conditions. All their top up players were shorter than these two. I think they bent the rules this game. Or did Wagner and Austin (and Mitchell) all suddenly develop injuries just prior to the game?

Austin injured his shoulder in the last 5 seconds of the game against Sturt. Turns out he needs surgery and is out for the rest of season. Mitchell was the emergency for the Power. Wagner has been out with an injury for a couple of weeks, obviously didn't get up in time.
