Goodes booing has been worse since the media started making a big deal about it though

Now people are just booing because everyone else is, which makes those people idiots without any brains to think for themselves.

I also don't buy the "he stages for frees", "he's a sniper" argument either. How many other players that stage for frees or snipe get systematically booed with so much hatred?

I understand that people boo players all the time, but it stops after the game is over and is forgotten about by the next game. This is not stopping so either people are being sheep and just following the crowd or it is about more than what he is doing on the ground. If you're booing for either of those reasons then you're an idiot.

Goodes booing has been worse since the media started making a big deal about it though

but people aren't blaming the media, they have been attacking goodes...

Robbo on 360 last night made a good point, when he goes around in the back of a ute on grand final day and a 100k people boo him how do you think think that will look like to people from overseas? "why are they booing that black man?" first thought they'll have!!! It's true...

Jim it's much deeper than just saying people boo him for what you said. it's down right hate and people say goodes should just put up with it and accept it... why should he? why can't he be pissed, why can't jetta stand up for his mate?

The problem here is people hate it when someone goes against the norm and voices their opinion which others disagree on...

for example i put up a status about goodes on FB just after he stated why he did the dance in indigenous round, i stated actual facts and pretty much repeated what goodes said... got over 200 hundred comments and some where extremely hurtful comments directed at me!!! another example-
just a few hours after phil walsh was murdered a mate of mine said he heard walsh was bashing his wife and that's why his son did it and threw around some other comments, it got a little over 40 comments... and none were as harsh as mine....

Tell me which one should have got the more comments or got more people fired up???

like i said this is more than just staging, or being a flog and even being a champion... this is hate. plain and simple!

You think Jetta will get booed the next time he plays West Coast in Perth?

I reakon it's pretty simple.

If you're getting bullied and you respond to the bullies it will further ignite the bullying. If you rise above it, walk away or ignore it the bullies typically aren't smart enough to work out why and will move on.

Goodes, Jetta, McLaughlin, et al all having a say only gives the bullies more reason to keep going. IMO, the anti-booing lobby ( bet that's never been written on here before! ) is counter productive.

Woodubelieve.
Booney makes a good point. I like a clear debate, but with racial issues it's so politically correct to jump hard on anyone who dares suggest that such and such a minority group should help themselves or take responsibility for their actions etc... An i bet a large slab of your bigfooty responses would have been made up of those types? Right? Especially in the early days if you made comments against Goodes you were met with a harsh backlash often irrelevant to the comment actually made. And that's HALF the problem.
The other is people boo him. This second problem is made worse because some of the booers do so for reasons you have stated. Others do it for the same reasons they boo other players, they're too good, they stage for frees, they have an unfortunate way of expressing themselves etc.
Goodes has ALL OF THE ABOVE, it isn't just one reason.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

The booing only started after Gorillagate.
The reasoning came after the booing started.

Ben Cousins was booed a fair bit towards the end of his career.

Wayne Carey was booed.

Buckley was Booed.

Joel Selwood gets a few booes.

Boomer Harvey gets booed.

sometimes the big names get a boo from the opposition teams.

It's pretty typical of the low-IQ crowd to persistently exhibit sheep-syndrome. The constant boo-ing of Adam Goodes is cringeworthy because it's basically a bunch of people standing up and saying 'I have a low IQ'. Just embarrassing really.

Only one is kind of in our faces about the still overt racism that he sometimes has to deal with though.

The blackies are fine if all they do is shut their mouths and just play footy...

On a wider note, I just don't get why people boo in the first place. I have definitely done it in the past, but I regret doing so.

I don't get why people feel the need to hate people from other teams instead of just going to support their own team.

To me it just seems petty and illogical, especially when you have no personal connection to anybody involved at all.

Gerard obviously never went to the footy as a kid. Far less booing now than there was at the old suburban grounds. Booing would of been the least of their worries at Vic Park, Windy Hill, Moorabbin etc.
