Suns 2015

Talk on the national game

Martin, on the gas the night before a game, pops a hammy in the first 2 minutes.

How popular would he be right now?

Clearly the club is in a bad place on field but it looks like it's a rabble off field.

Dixon has said that he has a glass of red wine to help him sleep whilst away from home. Not sure about Martin.

Watching fox footy tonight, they got caught as the two involved forgot to pay the bill, and the motel sent the bill to the club.

Going from worse to worserer at the expansion club.

“One group is out on the turps and the other group are in bloody bible class. There’s a God squad on one half of the changerooms, they go to bible readings and sit and talk about God. And the other half are at the pub. It’s true.”

FORMER Gold Coast Suns players have reportedly described a worrying divide in the current playing group between those who go out drinking and a so-called “God squad”.
Triple M radio host Chris Dittmar said he spoke to former players from the club on the weekend after the full extent of former player Karmichael Hunt’s cocaine use was revealed by News Ltd.
“All is not well at that football club — in a big way,” said Dittmar, on the Roo and Ditts For Breakfast show on Monday morning.
“They’ve got a major issue at their club. There are two sets of players basically. (It’s divided) right down the middle and they don’t see eye to eye at all.
“One group is out on the turps and the other group are in bloody bible class. There’s a God squad on one half of the changerooms, they go to bible readings and sit and talk about God. And the other half are at the pub. It’s true.”
Dittmar’s co-host, former Adelaide Crows player Mark Ricciuto, laughed at the revelation. “Honestly they are playing like there’s something like that going on at that footy club,” he said.
Suns skipper Gary Ablett has been open about his faith, notably sharing a photograph of a pre-match prayer session involving him and some of his teammates two years ago.

Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade is refusing to “jump at shadows” after explosive claims of illicit drug use made by Karmichael Hunt were made public on Sunday. Just hours before the Suns took the field against Carlton for their 100th AFL match, the club announced that they would launch an investigation into allegations of cocaine use made by Hunt during his time at the club.
An injury-depleted Gold Coast side suffered a 34-point defeat at the hands of the Blues — Eade said he had not raised the issue with his players before the game and was unsure if it had played any part in their performance.
He said that he would leave the investigation to club chief executive Andrew Travis and the AFL, and would continue to go about his task of trying to move the besieged club off the bottom of the ladder.
“We’ll wait until we get facts — there’s going to be an investigation and there’s no sense jumping at shadows,” Eade said. “There hasn’t been any facts presented previously, there’s no facts at the moment (but) there’s been a fair amount of mud slung. “It’s interesting that the story would come out on the day that we play our 100th game. Our intel says that they probably knew the story a few weeks ago, so it’s interesting that it comes out now. “You can read into that what you like.”
There was, at least, some good news on a dark day for the club, with Ablett declaring he would almost certainly return from his much-discussed shoulder injury next week against North Melbourne.
Ablett said that the club’s medical staff had ruled him out of the clash with the Blues, which was expected to mark his return from the injury that has kept him out since round two.
“There was talk in the paper that it was my decision whether I would be out there but that wasn’t the case at all,” Ablett told 3AW. “I sat down with the medical staff and they said the right decision would be to give the shoulder another week of contact work. If it holds up to that then I’m very confident I’ll be out there.”

they are certainly playing like they arent a united playing group.

would be one of those things that is easy to overlook when you are travelling well, but as soon as there are a few injuries and a few players are under the pump, the tensions would come bubbling to the surface

“Back at the apartment I put the cocaine I had bought on the dining room table ... I was vaguely aware most people there were using the cocaine during the night.

“I noticed the next morning that all the of the cocaine was gone.

“I vaguely remember (Gold Coast player) saying he had some cocaine with him, but I don’t recall him pulling it out or using it.

“As the cocaine was all gone we had to get a top-up the next morning ...”

I don't think it's unusual to have some social separation in a Football club. Collingwood obviously had it under Malthouse, but I guess it's not as much an issue when you're winning.

Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to cull a few bad eggs at the Suns at the end of the year.

I can't see how there is a divide.

Who would chose bible classes over racking lines of the nose candy?

I reckon Gold Coast will think twice next time if they said to their players to get some interests outside of football.
Line dancing was not a good option.
