One of those games where the score line does not reflect the game. Eagles have that extra bit of finishing class enabling them to score at least 3 from the slingshot, where Centrals who were in the same position 4 times and could not score. That and the centre clearance were the difference.

We out tackled them78 to 47 and at one stage in the third quarter had almost double the amount of tackles, some real solid bone crunching tackles which had them rattled at times. To the Eagles credit, they regained composure and piled on the goals in the third and really are looking to me like a grand finalist. With Boyd back to add some extra pace and class, they are going to be difficult to beat. Petrenko stood out for the Eagles, and once again Jansen was my pick for Centrals with Thomo also a hard at it game. A solid return from Wally and with Schiller coming back in a few weeks. I think we will make the five.

Had to laugh at the retirement squad on the western wing, slightly south of centre, who without doubt are the most outstanding wanker supporters I've had the pleasure to listen to. Without any provocation, the hurling of stupid insults to the one or two Centrals supporters about them who were only cheering on their team was comedy gold, Knocking back the coldies and wearily working their way back and forward to the kiosk with their mean mother scowls, arthritic gait and pot bellies, no idea how utterly decrepit and stupid they looked. "Knock down Holdens and build a nuclear power plant" they repeated in their shrill voices, not understanding the properties of radioactive material. While they looked upon their formidable team, they proved themselves to be a poor bunch of silly old sods.

Thought Allmond played his best game since his return in 2013, Poole also very good and Petrenko has proved an exceptional pick up adding pace, smarts and vigour to the midfield. Ainger found space today and was rewarded. Centrals tried hard today but lacked the finishing touch. McGregor had an average game today yet still kicked 3 goals. Looking forward to the clash with West next week.

Centrals intensity impressive, but unable to score freely. Turning point seemed to be the move of Raikiwasa to full forward in third quarter. He reads the game well, is excellent in the air, recovers well on the ground and kicked straight. Good move from the coach.

MICHAEL Godden emerged from a behind-closed-doors meeting with his Woodville-West Torrens players, after a hard-fought victory over Central District, a content coach.

To absorb a serious challenge from the Bulldogs at Woodville Oval before putting a gap on the scoreboard for a 32-point win - and the club's ninth successive triumph - satisfied Godden.

The premiership coach claimed the pressure from the Bulldogs was the toughest the Eagles had confronted this season and he heaped praise on his players for the performance.

The win also enabled veteran Luke Jarrad to celebrate his 200th SANFL league appearance in style, as well as Michael Wundke's 100th.

"I rate the Dogs, always have,'' Godden said. "I rate their coach and club, they fight and if they lose this year it has not been by much.


"We knew we were in for a real battle and this game was a really good challenge for the playing group. Both clubs were at it in the first half and in the second we were up and at it in the contested footy.

"To finish with a 32-point win, I'm really proud of them.''

The Bulldogs conceded the first four goals before fighting back to trail by just six points at quarter time. Scores were level half-time, with the Dogs’ final two goals for the second quarter reward for tackling pressure in attack.

Turnovers hurt the Bulldogs and they were punished on the scoreboard after half-time as the Eagles pounced on stray kicks and handballs.

Guilty of a swag of mistakes in the second term when the Bulldogs created confusion with their defensive tactics, the Eagles used the ball more effectively after the main break to grab the ascendency.

Classy Jared Petrenko was among the Eagles having a significant influence and providing sparking run, while Andrew Ainger bagged three goals in the third quarter as the most damaging forward.

Bulldogs coach Roy Laird was pleased with his side's endeavour but he lamented the inability to maintain pressure for longer than 10-minute patches.

"We had strong sustained periods of good effort, our tackling numbers showed we were here to play,'' Laird said. "But it was in 10 minute blocks.

"The Eagles are a good team and in good form. We took it up to them but we have got to do it for longer.

"In the third quarter we'd miss a (target with a ) kick and we have got to be better.''

I'm not sure the eagles didnt stop in the second .
But the start of the first and after half time Eagles looked great . Skills were better than Centrals but they did play the sling shot game very well.
I think "Gods" moving "Bobbie" to full forward was the match winning move . He became the third tall and got the third best defender .
Almonds game was also impressive !

Thought the game was even. We just had a bit more talent when needed and a coaching move in the 3rd quarter of bobby into the forward lines proved a winner. I will never underestimate the Dogs even when their results are not as previous seasons. They are a great club. Was chatting to a few doggy supporter in the cricket club. Great ambassadors to your club.

Congratulations to Luke Jarrad btw. A player that frustrates opposition supporters by rarely getting caught with the ball, then covering plenty of ground before invariably rarely missing a target. I would have gladly had him at the Parade. Been a great contributor to his club and competition.
