You cannot lose with Foreign Affairs, lots of positive exposure and anything difficult can be blamed on other nations. It is the glory portfolio.

this is just like watching House of Cards

Im not sure if Edwards has a problem to be honest. I think this has created more of an issue for the PM than himself.

Basically the PM told him what he wanted to hear but did not make his clear to others that are now cleaning up the mess. By mess I mean the fact that what the PM told him is not actually correct.

Didn't go down particularly well.

Minor issue really but he still needs to learn that in the heat of the moment he has to think through what he is trying to say.

If he hasnt worked out by now that the media will jump on him about anything he says then really he has learnt nothing.

So Tony announces to the nation on Sunday an urgent review of the Sydney siege.

Is it just me or is this bloke dragging this out .

The Coalition and Abbott in particular have fertile ground on fiscal issues, but unfortunately he is much more comfortable playing the 'opposition leader' by continually blaming Labor and going back to his comfort zone of 'border protection', 'national security' and 'radical islamists'.

Not so fertile ground. He's managed to increase the debt and raise unemployment so far.

Without the metadata laws passed, there will be an explosion of unsolved crimes says our PM.

I think maybe there will be more illegal downloads without them but not sure about this explosion.

It's interesting that meta data retention was being pushed as an anti terror necessity, now the rhetoric seems to be that is necessary in general.

We enter dangerous territory when we start assuming everyone is guilty in order to spy on them.

Abbott squealing that some media are reporting rumour as fact ... oh, please, how ironic coming from someone who has this down to an art form.

I detested some of John Howard's policies but one thing I give him credit for was that he played the political game in full knowledge that some were in favour of him, and others weren't. He also never, ever complained about the media, even though there were occasions when their treatment of him was questionable.

Abbott, unfortunately just doesn't get it.
