His playing pace so bad I reckon he will either hit out or get out vs the spinners

He looks like he is only picking it up halfway down the pitch

In his last 9 innings, the only time Smith didn't make 50 was when he got out for 49
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Incorrect, he got out for 28 in Brisbane, and hasn't made a 49 in his past 9 innings as far as cricinfo tells me

AO take a leaf out of this pitch

You do realise that the same technology and methodolgy is used in developing the AO drop ins as the MCG ones? In other words the MCG and Adelaide oval drop in are basically the same style of pitch.

If its the same style of pitch , please explain why AO + MCG play differently ?
What WHUFC says is that AO is too much in favor of the batsmen for 3 days
From what I am seeing today there's something in it for the bowlers today

Yeah, good point, the Adelaide Test was boring as batshit, especially the last day.

Didn't make up for 3 days of rubbish

It was a close finish thanks to 2 declarations by Australia
Without declarations AGAIN - many MORE AO tests would end up in draws

That Watto averaged close to 50 and was then opening the batting
That put pressure on the bowlers

These days he is trying too hard to play like a technically correct test batsman
Its not working
That puts pressure on himself

Someone needs to clear his mind
I would like to think Boof is the man to get Watto going , but it aint happening , yet

Basically Watto needs a new mindset
Perhaps the timing of the blow he received from James Pattinson may actually end up helping him with the bat !
Cant do much worse !

Vintage Watto today :prayer:
Took on the bowlers =D>
Made a half ton. and gave it away when set again

It would have to be one of the greatest calendar years in Australian cricket history,

Went from questionable selection to test captain while averaging 80 plus and 1000 run year

Winning an Ashes and knocking off the number 1 test team away from home

Much better or more accurately more consistent bowling by India today (for those wondering why there is a difference in outcome on day 1 here v day 1 AO)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Australia declared in the 1981 Headingly Test Match, India declared in Kolkota 2001, Australia declared twice at Chennai in 1986 in the tied test. In the era of covered pitches declarations are very common occurrences to get a result all around the world.

On the flip side Adelaide 92-93, the tied test of Brisbane and Melbourne 82-83 didn't require declarations.

Generally when no declarations are required the pitch is a shocker like Trinidad 1995 or Chennai 2004 (the last test of that series).

The fact you have to declare to get a result is not unique to Adelaide

Cmon mal.

It's not like both teams declared to create a result. Yes the Aussies declared twice. But they dominated the match.

No but Adelaide generally requires 2 declarations and without the declarations a result would be near on impossible

In my opinion the first 3 days of the Adelaide test is generally the most boring part of an Australian cricket summer

What about every other day 1 for the last 20 years when comparing day 1 at each ground

Pretty good compared to Trent Bridge 1989. Headingly 1993 and Lords 1993

Or was that due to poor bowling?

My entire point is you can't just blame a pitch for high scores, shithouse bowling and good batting has to be taken into consideration

Australia batted like jets on day 1 of the Adelaide test of 2011-12 against South africa then got rolled in 2 session on day two. Did the pitch deteriorate? Was it better bowling or poor batting, who knows for sure but don't blame the pitch.

FWIW I would prefer there weren't drop-in pitches at AO so it wasn't so much like Melbourne ;)
