Matty Wade

Wade will make runs but guaranteed to drop atleast 1 catch a match off the quicks. I feel sorry for Lyon if Wade ever comes back in

So which keeper in the system can you guarantee not to make an error???

Wade is the best going around.

Best shortstop going around, wouldnt call him a keeper.
Cant guarantee any keeper not to make an error but Wade consistantly bottles chances and is terrible to spin.
Im biased but im picking Nevill, better first class average than Wade and a 10 times better keeper. Age is against him though unfortunately

My point is a decade ago we had shield players who people thought "how the hell is he not playing for australia?" Sadly we don't have that anymore

Long term yes, but I think they should just bat the kids at 6 like what always used to happen and let him get some experience

well Wade did break the record for most dismissals for a keeper in a shield season for Victoria after he moved from Tassie.

we will agree to disagree, but Wade is the next best
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Agree wouldn't think there is too many current shield players who haven't played a test for Aus who could consider themselves unlucky.

Maybe Klinger at one point should have had a crack

We've chopped and changed Watson's role and batting position in the side for a decade, can't we give the guy a chance to focus on getting his game right before we ask him to change again? If Burns is in good form then he should make a good enough fist of 6.

Heard a stat that there are something like 80 blokes over a long career with a first class average over 50. D. Hussey the only one to have never played test cricket. 5 of his last 7 hits in list A or first class cricket he's got past 50 so still producing. Could do far worse at 6 and he provides a few handy offies if needed too. Obviously not a long term solution but test cricket is always about the here and now IMHO.

That's a good stat. Could have come in a few years ago but I think the time is right to blood a youngster now.

Tend to agree, it has been a great development path for the Aussies throughout the year

Personally I would have rathered seen Carters than Burns but Burns is defiantly worthy of his selection and hopefully will be a long term answer to the number three slot.

Good luck Monty!

Swap Marsh and Lyon too... Marsh is a dud.

Possibly. Him and Paterson are being looked after with the softly softly approach. CA obviously can see that once these get there bodies sorted they will be long term players.
