Not alot I would say considering that some retire just so they can take a big country offer.

Crops........

Cereal?

Not hard for a group of farmers to donate the proceeds of a couple of tonnes of their crop to the footy club each...

Crops may be a very small part of it but certainly not all.. Communities (volunteers) rally around the club and a sat night in a country town is always busy for club home games - netballers etc too they are really more of a community hub than just a football club - fundraisers raffles etc well run and well supported I think you'd find city clubs with this sort of backing would thrive too.. Then gate takings etc add up too it's a lot of little things certainly not just a farmer or 5 handing over cash - not uncommon for clubs to do 120 meals post game!

Exactly.
Gate takings are important, most games in the Barossa get decent crowds. You are right about meals at the clubs aswell. Also the local businesses throw in sponsorship, many businesses in Gawler for instance sponsor all 3 Gawler clubs. The local pubs are usually major sponsors of country sides.
Then there is fundraising and as you said the importance of netball cant be underestimated. With about 15 grades of netball and 6 grades of footy there is quite a bit of money made from memberships

Imagine living in a town where literally every person living there was behind the only local team. Huge variety of trades, businesses, expertise all on offer for free labour, sponsorship, donations...not to mention good numbers for volunteers, committee members, etc.

I know of a side in the Mallee league who have a player budget exceeding 250k a season. They have huge auctions where they sell off days labour for various trades (and people are willing to pay huge overs for it, just for the club), huge fundraising committee, also has their own space for a 'club farm' where everyone donates bits and pieces and is run by a retired farmer. They also breed and sell club sheep at shows which last year made them just shy of 80k.

Also, i've been to a matchday there and there is a huge number of football and netball games happening between the hours of 9am and 5pm, then the club is open all night. Entire town there....imagine what goes over the bar/canteen. It'd be nice!

With coin like that being spent like that you'd expect the mentioned club to be the best side in the state.
