NG, I don't understand how a grown man can follow something that is not tangible at all.
If I said to you I could kick a footy 100m every kick without fail (little bit of footy flavour for everyone. you're welcome
) most people would want some sort of proof.
The only "proof" that exists that Jesus lived, God did this and that, is a book, written a long time ago (and not very well from what I've seen), and edited by people after the fact to suit their own beliefs.
I understand people use the church as a place to connect with people, and some people find acceptance within the church when they can't get it elsewhere, but that also stands true for social forums on the internet.
Eg. I have no friends, so I talk to you wankers on here
Where you talk about following laws that you don't agree with, and they are there even if you don't want them to be has no baring on if there is a God or not. We can see and interact with the agencies that enforce the laws we live by. You show me the guy thats gonna punish me for my sins, and I'll fall into line and believe.
In my opinion, it's just a more elaborate Harry Potter fan club (have you seen the movies? they're good
all that witchcraft and stuff)
I do find this discussion interesting though. I like the different point of views, and I appreciate Bennymaccas, since he's actually seen the light, so to speak, and got himself away from a damaging cult.
