Draw at end of any quarter - AFL

Postby Plunge Penguin » Sat Jun 09, 2007 9:38 am

With quarter by quarter score punting available, over the last 18 months or so, I've been amazed at how often this comes up. I've had a very good strike rate on punting that there will be a draw at the end of one of the quarters in a match. Looking at Unitab odds, if you put $5 on every match in a round, with the usual return being $10 per $1 unit, if it happened in just one match, there would be a return of 20% on total investment. If it happens twice in a round, then a return of $100 for $40 invested.

Thought I might start, from this round, with two multis per round at $5 per multi on this; one with two games linked to return $500 per $5, one with three games linked for a $5000 return per $5.

For this round: will take Hawthorn/Sydney into St Kilda/Kangaroos for the 2 game option; then will have Bris/WB into Carl/Pt Adel into Coll/Melb for the 3 game option.

Let's see how it goes!

Haven't revisited this for a little while, but noted it came up again in St K v Rich last week: placing $5 on each game at a cost of $40 would have returned $45 - only an 11% return, but still a return...

Will try this week with it also: will take a draw at end of any quarter in Coll v St K into Adel v Hawthorn tonight - $81 return for each $1 invested. Suspect both games will be fairly close throughout.

For the bolder, will take WB v Port into Syd v Freo into Melb v Carlton also - return of $729 per $1 invested.

While it will take a lot of luck for it, not risking big amounts and like I said before, this option comes up nearly every round in at least one game - sometimes up to 3.

Took just the one this weekend: St K v WB into Carl v Coll. (wish I'd had the foresight to take the draw as the final result!!). See what transpires today in the latter match...

An old thread but out of interest - a punter who had $5 on every match of this round - with three games remaining - would already be $50 up for the round (Carl v Rich, St K v Syd), at odds of $9 for this result in qtr by qtr scores.
