AFL.com.au is not able to name the player at this time based on legal advice.

The alleged incident happened in the early hours of Sunday October 12 when two men were picked up by a cab driver.

The men allegedly threatened the driver and demanded all of his money.

When he refused, one of the men stole his log-book and got out of the cab.

The men then assaulted him and stole money from the taxi before running away.

Police say the cab driver was not injured and are hopeful of releasing a statement on Tuesday afternoon.

Absolutely disgraceful - these people need to be put behind bars. Taxi drivers safety is paramount, we can't afford any more taxi industry strikes.

Since the AFL won't name the accused neither will we.

Thanks,

Thats ok. I just went to bigfooty and found the players name pretty quick but I wont mention it here as requested.

The only defence he could have to save his job is that his mate was a **** wit and held him up and then he went to the police or the club the next day and come clean. My old mans a cab driver and I've seen him after being attacked 3 times and once it resulted in drills going into his head to remove fluid on the brain.

People who rob cab drivers are the scum of the earth and there is zero excuse for it.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Not hard to figure out who it was given where it happened.

Maybe they'll delist him and we can get him back to Norwood.

Exactly. It's incredibly implausible that a Norwood boy would fall foul of the law.
