AFL everyday of the week

Postby whufc » Sat May 31, 2014 1:33 pm

Imho the AFL within 5-10 years will be similar to the EPL and will be played 7 days a week.

The Monday, Thursday and Friday night games have proved to be gold mines for TV ratings.

This would also mean every game is a standalone on TV, no more double Saturday night games equals extra viewers

Did I hear correctly that the Saturday afternoon timeslot is the lowest rating tv time for AFL.

Could we see this replaced with a Tuesday or Wednesday night game.

Fixture would also cater so teams only play one game a week and would nearly always get at very least a 7 day break.

People's thoughts, will this happen?

There should be less teams and less footy. The standard is shit and the fixture this year is appalling. Take today for example. Three games on and the first one doesn't start till 3pm this afternoon and they overlap. Ridiculous. Then we've had three weeks of bullshit bye weeks with Sundays that have only one match. The brilliant spectacle of WCE vs. GWS as a stand alone Sunday match.

Piss off the Giants and the bye weeks and have one bye per week. First round of the season should be played over one week not two and bye bye Thursday and Monday night football.

I don't mind the idea.
Wed - Mon nights. Plus Saturday and Sunday arvo games = 8 stand alone time slots.
18 team comp. 17 rounds played over 22 weeks. No byes, just average a 9 day break instead of 7.
Solves the issue of players missing games through "General Soreness" and other associated rests.
Returns the Fixture to a more even Draw, with everyone playing each team once.

Means a stack less footy, so won't get up, but I don't mind it as a general idea.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
