I think Henley will be around the mark. It wasn't until the last quarter that the game was won, but Salisbury North didn't really break the game wide open at any stage.

I'm fairly sure Henley had James Stewart go down with a hamstring injury, Ned Heath get red carded (for not a lot I'm told), and Tim Broadbent with a rolled ankle all before 3/4 time I believe. Having that many players out of action in D1 makes a big difference, and so I'm not surprised Salisbury North were able to run away with it in the last. Good win for them nonetheless though. Hard to beat Henley at home.

You're right about the Ned Heath incident. I thought a free kick was warranted, but not much else. Maybe the umpires are being extra vigilant about that sort of thing this year?

It was very clumsy by Heath. Jumping into someone knees first. But defiantly didn't warrant a red card. Stewart absoloutly dominated the first 3 quarters. But like you said a couple of rotations down in div 1 will hurt a lot with how fit teams are these days.

expect salisbury north to kick very very long, their kickers were able to clear distances unexpected in this level (strong wind helped) but it was this at the end of a match that gave them a massive advantage in closing stages

yep that was my first thought, the umps have been told to be extra extra penalizing on anything with cruel non-football intentions (am guessing)

I think you'd be on the money.

Were you there, Marbles? If so, what was your take on the whole incident?

Personally, I really do think Heath was hard done by.

nothing in it, rough play sure but just genuine footy stuff

but anything malice seems like will simply not be tolerated and you'll be straight off red card, and considering how the league was tarnished last season this is understandable

this is fine, the player got put in naughty corner and wont do it again which is a good lesson, BUT a red card means tribunal yeah??

I know what you mean, but the incident in question didn't seem malicious to me. It just seemed as though Heath got in late, and was more clumsy than anything else.

Even then, Potticary was given 4 weeks vacation, wasn't he?

That's right. I sure hope Heath gets off the hook, because I don't believe there was any malicious intent in his conduct. But if that's the way the umpires are interpreting it this season, get set for a lot of bruise-free football...

With the ACC giving both sides permits for the players and immediate officials, parking wasn't a huge problem. The permits are for the scetions marked event parking I believe as opposed to permit parking which is for the Wome's and Childrens nurses.
There were a few folk watching the end of the game after the Crows and others who came up for a quiet drink in the upstairs room.
