if we are going by cost of living, Adelaide crows and port should have a smaller salary cap then anyone else, because it's cheaper here :D

Just means players in other states can afford to buy 2 or 3. One to live in and an investment property.

Which is mostly correct, as all leagues have to accept responsibility for their own backyard, buck stops and all that.

But naturally what happens at the top will filter down and have an effect on supporting/lower leagues. The SANFL several times found themselves with a gun to their head given the promises and threats related to funding from the AFL, which sits at an amazing disparity with other states, regions and area's of development. Reduction in transfer $$ income etc. So Vlad has had an involvement, whether he cares to admit it or not. But at the ed of the day his primary/only concern had to be for the body which he was employed to oversee.

I not a fan of the bloke and I think he's botched a few things toward the end of his tenure, but I agree with GrahamL - From the Charter given to him from his employers I would suggest he has been an outstanding success.

Sorry JK, but the only afl people I can remember making threats are the Crows and Power.

the only issue i have with the 10% cost of living allowance is that it is not applied uniformly across all players. they should get the same salary cap as everyone else, and then every player gets a 10% bonus, rather than the current system where they get 10% extra in their cap to spend how they like, and what that amounts to is them buying an extra gun player a year

AD made it fairly public that the SANFL would receive reduced funding if they didn't lower the Salary Cap amount.

Has done a great job of growing the code (now almost exclusively referred to as “AFL”, as opposed to “Aussie Rules Footy”) and ensuring it receives saturation coverage. The game itself has never been less interesting to watch though. The fact that the fixture is purely $ driven ensures the league lacks a certain level of integrity in that regard. Also the handling of various ‘scandals’ in recent times has left a lot to be desired, as far back as the Rendell incident.

LMFAO

Didn't realise one house in Sydney is worth two in other States, COLA should be 100%.

It is a joke...

didn't seem to bother anyone when we were average... Funny how that works...

How many big names have the swans got in the last 10 years on huge coin? 2.... Players leaving free'd up space in our cap to afford them...

How many recycled players we have got and turned them in to very good footballers... Several.

How many late draft picks we have got and they turned out to be guns... several...

Swans have a very good program... The foundation was set back in 2002 by roos and co...

As i've always said, you take COLA away from us, GWS must lose it too... SIMPLE. Disgrace if they dont!

As long as you don't mind winning when receiving an advantage, happy to accept the doubt it creates....

Nobody is saying the COLA assures you anything, but a side that can win a GF then recruit (potentially) the two highest paid key forwards in the comp to long term deals seems slightly jilted, does it not?

Not sure COLA is really needed when you are earning six figures.

I see you have conveniently forgotten the explanation how Sydney have been able to recruit both players.

it's not really that difficult...
players retire, get traded or delisted... What happens to the cap when that happens????
Not rocket science....

Speaking of something not being Rocket Surgery. You've been up there since 82 and GWS has been there 5 minutes. The AFL wanted Tippett and Buddy to go to the Giants but you want to squash the baby at Birth and recruited both because you could. You've bitten the hand that feeds you and now you've shit in your own nest.

As an expansion club GWS deserve COLA. As an established club that has recruited the highest profile recruits in successive years, you don't.

regards,

REB
