Cougar doesnt actually drink cougar. He drinks beer.

My love of Cougar Bourbon only went as far as the Barry Dawson TV commercials. God I miss those.....

And will have to stock up some for the return leg ;)

If the ball gets thrown in and the keeper is up to the stumps ready to take the ball.. and it hits the side of the pitch and takes a unnatural, into the gap... do you take another run or not. Is it the same as the ball hitting the batsman and deciding not to take a second run??

I reckon I've seen the umpires call Dead Ball (i.e. from completion of the first run) in this comp. Think we had one last year where a fielder pegged at the stumps, someone was backing up but the ball hit the concrete and flew over everyone's head to the boundary. The umpire (neutral) ruled only one run to be given to the batsman. I would have thought tough luck, it's still 5 runs but think the umpire just used a common sense approach.

Fielding training not going down to well with the lads I hear.

 Things are progressing fine, going to take some time and a lot of patience to change the culture and mindset at Enfield.

Apart from the dislike to do fielding training, plenty of positives over the grades on the weekend, and results probably don't quite reflect the effort. Most pleasing is a few young kids around 15/16 coming through that look likely sorts.

... No Weaselback was not there

And the rumour proved to be true. Dissappointing to see him still in this association. It was a credit to Fitzroy that they turfed him after he showed his true colours. Terrible bloke on and off the field.

I stand corrected, I hadn't seen or heard from him previously so honestly thought he was headed elsewhere.

We will monitor his behaviour very closely and he knows it. Wasn't he captain at Fitzroy last season? Can't be that terrible if they believed he was capable of leading a team?

It is what he did as captain that showed his true measure, hence not only stripped of the captaincy but not welcome back at the club. He is self centred and selfish, only cares about himself and his ego.

PM me if u wish to keep anonymous or reply with a simple Y or N if u wish. Results published on Friday

Well we had a massive 82 votes for this Poll and it appears this comp wants and needs Richie Marshall back. A massive 88% said yes bring him back

This Week’s Poll: Will the recruitment of Paul Wright as skipper and Matt Bedgegood as Coach bring better returns for Enfield this season? Again a simple Y or N will do, or PM me if wish to remain anonymous.

Can you please define what you class as better returns?

I will vote Y

This weekend compared with corresponding match v Para Vista last year:

PV 4/114 (24.0 overs) d Enfield 10/113 (38.3 overs) - This season
PV 0/94 (13.0 overs) d Enfield 10/93 (30.0 overs) - Last season

.. that's a better return

Yes, still a belting i agree - but this is a side that struggled to make over 100 in an innings last season - heck even failed to make 50 in two games!

My point i was highlighting - despite the obvious belting - was the boys were able to be more competitive to an extend.

Batted for a longer period of time and were able to force more overs on the opposition before passing our total.

Our B grade much the same, and had they not dropped half a dozen chances, i believe could very well have given themselves a real chance of snatching the points - instead lose by 6 wickets - but still made Lutheran take 30 overs to chase less than 100.

C grade had a strong win, hard to gauge much from that

D grade fell approx 30 runs short and scored 130 which was a good effort given they also struggled to hit > 100 last season, downside was obviously lack of contributors with the bat apart from Laird but pleasing was the effort of one of the kids Jesse Goodman who took 3/34 from his 8 overs.

Got to see the positives beeroclock

How come Laird plays in your D Grade? Is that by choice?

Apart from the fact he is a spud...

He was unavailable last weekend due to work/family, after a player pulled out Sat morning I rung him and sorted out so he could play - just meant I got to play daddy daycare and look after his daughter, and we were able to get another person to sub field until he could arrive from work.

He will work his way up the grades as long as he continues to apply himself and put results on the board.
