Given the media attention Do they need to waste their time?

Maybe they are waiting to finalise the selection panel and work out what criteria are required for the job before doing so. Remember West are a few weeks in front of where South are at for selecting a new Coach

Exactly! Quite frankly, it's Collo, Collo and Collo for this disaster and I'm sure South will pay the magic $ it will take to secure him for 3 years.
No one else has the CV to take on this job like Collo has, it's almost a mirror image of when he took over West.
Even if South have to pay overs for him, this is the biggest no-brainer of all time :)
Right man at the right time!
Or South could trade up for Massive Joke from the Gays

You'd assume its a joke that Collins was mentioned at South, couldn't think of anyone worse for the club and what they need.

Im not a fan of Collins

BUT

Surely South arent in a position where they can not only dictate what results they want but also what style they get those results in.

Surely Souths number 1 priority for hiring a coach is to get a bloke who gets results...................end of story.

Their fans have been starved for far to long and i think there is a better chance of holding on to supporters at their club by getting results playing ugly rather than losing pretty.

While that wasnt the case at West they have a history of getting reasonable results while still playing pretty with full forwards kicking bags, Adam Richardson, Bradshaw etc.

Collins did the job at West who arguably at the time were in a worse position than South are currently both on and off field.

If he wants the job it has to be his doesnt it or is that a too simple view.

Spot on WHUFC we just need to win games any way we can and for a sustained period not just 1 year. When the club has a history of losing the only way to change the culture is by winning.
The rest of the talk about game plans, crowd numbers ect come a distant second to actually winning games as far as I'm concerned!!!!

It's fairly disheartening when deep down at the start of every season you know your club has no chance of making it to grand final day!!!!!

For all you Collins fans out there, come back and tell us that SOUTH needs Collins after next weekend when Westies gets another week closer to being put out of the finals race.

For South to go ahead they need a person who is able to "Coach" young men into playing League football, teach them how to win at all costs, give them self pride in their club, give them a reason to hold their heads up high, and further more a decent reason to get the Southies back following the Panthers each week.

Fortunately for South Collins does not fit the measure.

Ummm isn't that what Collins has done at West

Your speaking like South is coming off the dogs decade I
Of dominance

I hate Collins but his SANFL credentials are going to be better than any other coach who applies for the role

Maybe take a leaf out of freos' books

If you want a person who is able to coach young men, Collins is your man. Collins has developed a core group of West Adelaide juniors who have now played 50+ games of League football and is starting to reap the rewards for a few years of development. Players such as Caire, Beech (both state players), Fielke, Thompson, Webb, Green, Anderson etc. South need to develop and nurture their juniors, something it has been unable to do for a while. You could do a lot worse than Collins, you have previously

Agree that Collins has brought along some of our juniors but we also have about 12 regular players who have come off AFL lists recently. That sure helps. Could just as easily argue that his recruiting is his best asset as a coach.

Having coached a team to a SANFL Grand Final, maybe Collins is overqualified for the South job? ;)

Seriously though, I'd see him as exactly what South need. He has shown he can go to a club that was a basket case an drag them up the ladder in a short space of time.

The South Adelaide Football Club (SAFC) would like to announce the members of a selection panel that will be responsible for making a recommendation to the Board for the Panthers’ new Senior Coach.

The selection panel will be chaired by Chief Executive Officer, Evan Arnold and will comprise of SAFC directors, SAFC staff and two independent panel members.

The members of the panel include SAFC directors, David Kappler and Grant Miles, SAFC Football Manager, Neill Sharpe, and SAFC Talent Manager, Tony Bamford. The two independent members of the panel are former Port Adelaide player and Chief Executive Officer and now highly respected consultant, Brian Cunningham and South Adelaide past player and Adelaide Football Club Development Coach, Matthew Clarke.

This is a high calibre group of people which reflects the importance of this decision for the South Adelaide Football Club. The recruitment process has begun and we are confident we will secure the absolute best coach for our football team and club. The process includes extensive criteria that candidates will need to meet to advance beyond the short-list stage. The panel will then invite selected candidates to take part in an interview and presentation process.

A recommendation following this will then be made to the Board to ratify the appointment of the Panthers’ next Senior Coach.
