A couple of quotes from the North information night that might be of interest to the two AFL clubs and their ability to work well with the SANFL clubs as they seem to believe will happen.

Firstly from Greg Edwards this:

"i mean do you trust the AFL clubs? I don't and i work with them almost every day"

Secondly from Bohdan Jaworskyj:

"Rest assured, if Port can find a way to cheat, they will."

Pathetic attempts to try and win points from the assembled members by badmouthing the AFL clubs or do they actually truly believe this? Not sure what is worse but right no i don't really care. I just can't get my head around what the comp will now become. It's just devastating and to know the President of my club voted yes makes it even worse. At least Central and South fans can be proud of their clubs. Never thought i'd be envious of South supporters but here we are. Jam a pinecone up you Bohdan you dopey old Karmichael Hunt!

"“It was critical to get all Clubs unanimous in their preparedness to work with us, regardless of how they voted,” Trigg said."

Comical stuff. What a man of honour.

I apologize on behalf of the spineless cowards that are the board of the Norwood Football Club, even Joe who didn't have the balls to be his own man and always had my respect.

Man I hope you prices rock up to the bay on Sunday!!

For me, the fact that the AFL franchises will soon have reserves teams in the SANFL means that the corporate, VFL infiltration of football in this state is now complete.

The SANFL withstood the exodus of some of the top players to the VFL in the 1980s.

The SANFL withstood the formation of the Crows in 1990.

The SANFL withstood the passage of mainstream interest and media coverage it to the AFL in the 1990s.

The SANFL withstood the decline of crowds from an average of nearly 10,000 forty years ago to 3,000.

While no-one would claim that the SANFL is a more skilled league than the AFL, it is nevertheless as, if not more, interesting and it still commands a loyal fan base. Until now, it has survived the advent of the so-called 'national' league.

However, it seems that it has not withstood the clout of the AFL franchises.

I think many have feared that this day would come for a long time. For me, the most revolting aspect of this is the insult to the players and fans who have been part of the competition for 136 years. We are the ones who have been forsaken so that Sando can have his way.

It seems to be abhorrent that the SANFL, a magnificent league in its own right for so long will now become just a training tool for the AFL clubs. Simply, it is being 'used', and 6 league directors are responsible for this.

Many, myself included, have pledged not to attend SANFL matches after this year. While many will say that real supporters are not as 'fickle' as this, I ask the question: What would I be supporting? The SANFL is going to become a mere development league. It is thus not the treachery of the league directors in itself that will mean I cease attending matches next season, but the lack of interest. After the Eagles win the Grand Final on 6 October (I can dream), the SANFL will mean nothing to me. It will effectively be dead.

RIP the SANFL.

If people are going to continue going to the SANFL, at the very least they should barrack for and become members of South Adelaide and Central District.

Anything else and you're just backing the Crows.

Yeah most disappointing. Tripodi should have told the board to get stuffed. The frustration was written all over his face on the news.

And weren't their supporters so cocky about it!

Have to admit I was confident
Disgraceful decision by the club and I have let them know my thoughts and they will cop a barrage of abuse at the next home game.
Am deeply hurt by the clubs position on this :(

Have they given any reason for their change of decision?

Clearly they don't want to piss off the establishment in this state. The Crows wanted in. The SANFL heirachy wanted them in. Were too gutless to admit they were deep in talks with the VFL in 1990 and too gutless to stand by their convictions now. Cant say im surprised though.

Trigg is a ******* slimeball. Railroads the clubs into voting his way with imaginary crowd figures and threats of irrelevance. Will not compromise with a trial year in the reserves, demanding it be The Crows way or not at all. Says he'll only respect a unanimous vote, then promptly goes back on his word.

This arsehole sprouting about concepts like "integrity" is the canonical example of irony. He clearly has (IMO) the morals of a two year old.

How does it feel to be the most hated man in football, Trigg? You are a lower form of life than the worms which ate Bruce Weber's interred corpse.

I am ******* SEETHING right now.

The only way that the clubs are going to be able to recognise the effects of their vote is by the change in membership and attendance next year. It's up to those that are most passionate about this to make their views known in the way that is most effective.

The next phase for the commission and the directors is what will happen with Port.
I can't see the U/18's and the Magpies lasting beyond the next season.
At least the Crows are paying their way.
