Salmon fishing in Yemen - "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" is a charming, quirky, very British film tha is an enjoyable .,watch.

A somewhat eccentric sheikh has the idea of exporting the concept of salmon fishing from his estate in Scotland to the desert areas of the Yemen. Leading UK fishing scientist Dr Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is recruited by rapacious British government PR specialist Bridget Maxwell (brilliantly played by Kristin Scott Thomas) to take charge of the project. Dr Jones becomes romantically attracted to the sheikh's PA (Emily Blunt), who is also involved in the scheme.

At only 30 minutes or so it's not really a movie, but I just watched The Plank with Eric Sykes (RIP) from the late 60's. Hilarious slapstick!

the dark knight rises. dont know that i would rate it higher than the dark knight, and there was a few small things that i didnt like, but overall it was a pretty good movie. finished the series of reasonably well, but left enough loose ends that another movie wouldnt be out of place following it.

Another vote for Ted.

Expected plenty of cheap laughs.

Didn't expect such a well-crafted fillum.

The Flash Gordon set-up/payoff was worth the ticket alone.

Took me all the way back to 1981...

I saw TED on Saturday. I really liked the funny parts, but I think the soppy parts were kinda too sad for that kind of movie. Some chick right up the back of the cinema was crying.

The job interview thats in the TV ad is a highlight ;)

Lars and the Real Girl

Bit late in seeing and appreciating this.

Agree with the YouTube comment that said Ryan Gosling should've got an Oscar for the dance scene alone...

Postby The Dark Knight » Mon Jul 23, 2012 8:45 pm

I went and saw The Dark Knight Rises yesterday afternoon and even though being a huge Batman fanatic and being very critical of it, I enjoyed it. The start kind of gave me the chills reminiscent of the ones I used to get watching the beginning of 'The Adventures of Batman' cartoon show on a Saturday morning after coming home from Kanga cricket at Port Reserve, ten or so years ago. The ending is quite sneaky and I thought it was great and for me peaced it all together reasonably well.

For me it was all about the small things, the things that people who aren't massive fans wouldn't notice. I went in a fairly open mind, being both excited and slightly worried as to how all the little things that are important to me that make up the Batman universe would fit into the movie. Some of the little parts they threw in there were quite incredible I thought and left me thinking wow, thank you Christoper Nolan for putting that in the film and I got excited when no one else around me did. Then there were parts (I guess I'm being picky here and not revealing too much) that annoyed the hell out of me, one of which (I won't try and spoil it) at the start of the film didn't have that impact it has, I felt as though such an big and resounding thing was rushed and wasted. Tom Hardy was fantastic as Bane, he really did the character of Bane justice, he was a very menacing man. I was worried when I heard that Anne Hathaway would be playing Selina Kyle in TDKR but her role as Catwoman was pretty good.

Some of the one liners were awsome.

I will go and see it again I reckon and I'll say to eveyone go and see it because it's definitely worth it.

Pretty funny movie about a girls high school varsity team.

The Dark Knight Rises

Spectacular.

The meticulous craft and attention to detail in every scene left me in awe.
