The reality is that, the inconsistency with the "push in the back" rule will cost a team a game during the year and there will be huge repercussions....As teams become frustrated by umpires and lets face it, this is the SFL... fights will break out! It should be addressed now before it gets out of hand.

I have no problem with the rule - the problem is the inconsistency. Lets face it.... this rule is very hard to adjudicate on at the best of times and these umpires of course aren't AFL standard but to put it simply, if they cant consistently get it right they should abolish the rule. Maybe I'm wrong and this wont be an issue in the coming weeks but I have the feeling this will be an issue all year!!?

Here's one for you all....Flaggies taped the game against Brighton on the weekend and have since lodged a report against a Brighton player for a charging offence - even though the umpire deemed the contact reasonable. Interesting to note that the Flaggy player involved is the son of the chairman at Flagstaff (over protective dad)...

Where to from here - should we tape all matches....

Can the league take Lonsdales win against the cockledivers seriously or are PN just there for the numbers this year? losing such a large amount of players was a shock to the divers and with lonsdale playing christies this week, will there be a test?

Yeah could be right...but the report lodged has been referred to the tribunal - which i understand the SFL is obliged to do once a club submits a complaint...

I am sure a few people at Flaggies wouldn't be too impressed with the committe having a seperate agenda....

true but if they cant use the video and the umpire has deemed the incident legal you would hope that the tribunal would chuck it out

We will see this week how they go against the mighty Saints!!!

Marion to struggle from all accounts.....If Cove can control their emotions they will be around the mark.....No doubting their list - but you would have to doubt the mental state of some of their players...when things start going against them they lose the plot....

Cove are the real deal, I dont rate Hando Anderson as much as there last coach, but with the players they have they will be morphies only threat. Some of the names in Coves B grade are very handy players!!!

Someone told me that the umpire paid a 50m penalty against the brighton player? Sounds weird if it was a fair bump?

Also told that the umpire paid a 50m penalty....but when questioned after the game although the bump was after the contest it was deemed to be not neglegent enough for a report. Surely if the umpire paid a 50m then that was what he deemed appropriate for the incident....the only weird part is Flaggies then taking the matter further.....I can understand if the incident was behind the play or reported by a third umpire or SFL official - but for Flaggies to lodge the report is ridiculous....
