2012 SANFL State Coach - Godden appointed

Maybe the coach of the team that progresses furthest in the Foxtel Cup the year before should get the gig?

After all, to listen to a few people here, it's the biggest and best footy comp in the whole freakin' land.
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'

Yes, Jars is the go and I'm not being sarcastic.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The other name missing from the suggested list is Rick McGowan. League coaching experience, AFL assistant at Hawthorn and reportedly back in SA to run his business.

We would love the gig , but loyalty to the Eagles and knowing Ronny F deserves it , especially after dragging the laughing stock of the league up by its Bow Tie ( Flanegan ) , prevents us accepting on this occasion ! However we are up for it and believe we are qualified especially seeing Darel Hart can do it and everyone knows he cant coach football ! Next year maybe ? :D

I'll put my hat in the mix. How hard is this coaching gig anyway. Coaching must be as easy as timekeeping the juniors is. Plus listening to all the pregame talks the coaches at the Eagles, I must have it down pat by now.

Reckon someone like John Cahill would be ideal personally and certainly has more runs on the board than any of the others.

Suggest you dig up his record as coach of state and state-of-origin teams and rethink the above.

As I recall, after SA got done by the Tassies - yes, the Tassies - in his last game as state coach, the great man himself admitted his record as state coach was below par.

Agree with the sentiment that Jars is ideally suited for this.. Would have as good as any in terms of insight into the opposition and would also ignite a bit of team bonding and passion into the group.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.
