There are some cheerful souls on this subject ;)

If you're going to complain, how about coming up with an alternative draw?

It's not easy.

Much easier having a whinge.

Would be much easier without the Foxtel Cup.

You will never convince me that this disgracefull program is anything other than deliberately designed to lessen crowds.
The biggest crowd puller is Norwood Oval at night ..... a fine night. When do they program these games ?...... the middle of winter when they know attendances will be down. In the past the games have been played early season and late season.
The SANFL are now slaves to the will of the AFL who want to weaken the SANFL and make it a small feeder league. Time to get the right people into the SANFL, ones who will represent OUR interests not the AFL.

Agreed, but just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. ;)

Several things make the draw difficult,

Dutchy and others are correct in saying the Foxtel Cup makes it harder, as do the requests that each club puts in to the League.

I doubt the AFL has any direct input into the draw at all.

SDK, if your paranoia is that the SANFL have people who don't act in the best interests of the comp, perhaps you could give us reasons why Phil Gallagher is one of them, as a SANFL Commissioner?

Probably the hardest thing is staying on track. This thread is about trial games. The full draw has its own thread.

My main issue with the draw is that it should be simple... 9 teams play 8 games against the other 8 teams, then it repeats, then they play the first four teams they played a third time for 20 games in total. Why is it we have to have some teams playing other teams twice before they even meet another team once? It's so AFLish its not funny, draws are now manipulated for all manner of dumb ass reasons.

Even for you it should be relatively simple.

The highest drawing team at the best attended oval should get some reasonable games at a decent time of the year.

That hasn't happened.

Which part of this is tricky to grasp?

Btw lol at a port supporter playing the paranoia card.

I don't think he had much difficulty understanding SDK's paranoia ;)

Perhaps he could give us any evidence that the AFL's wishes to destroy our comp has been acceded to with this draw?

Also, does he know what Norwood's requests were for the draw and how many were agreed to and not agreed to?

He also still hasn't answered my question about Phil Gallagher? Surely he's not suggesting a member of the 'Legs Team of the Century is part of a sellout to the AFL?

Leaving aside the fairly blatant attempt to drive down crowds the draw is compromised by an afl run competition that's not even supported by all clubs who make up the sanfl.

It can't be put simpler than that.

Anything else you need explained rnb?

Don't worry I'm sure you'll work out a way to have a go at Glenelg at some stage.

The fact that trial games are being played during round one is a sure sign the inmates have taken over the asylum.

That better HP?

Predicted a cheap shot, and it only took 5 posts.

Perhaps the scheduling of the Trial Games is also a deliberate attempt to drive down attendances at them also?

You predicted no such thing, you accused another clubs supporter of being paranoid and I reckon that shows a dramatic lack of self awareness as you follow Port, a club who've turned insular paranoia into an art form. I took much cheaper shots in my previous post btw.

Trial games shouldn't be being played parallel with round one, it's as if they gone out of their way to usher in the season with as much of a damp whimper as possible.
