Rudd is such a pretentious arrogant person who deserves every bit of criticism that can be directed at him for whatever reason.

Will never happen in a million years yet Salisburys own ex Mayor Tony Zappia could be a better candidate than Rudd for the leadership role. Zappia can at least point to having put a number of runs on the board as they mayor of Salisbury, cleaned up the area and got plenty of private investment into the area in terms of jobs and oversaw a water recycling programme the envy of every other council in Australia. Sadly enough though the good people in politics rarely get a go at the front bench!

I think it would be political suicide for Labor to recycle Rudd. Isn't he despised by the majority in caucus? And didn't some of the independents on the cross benches say openly that their promise to support the staus quo was a deal with Gillard and not the Labor party? So if she goes they would walk? I could be wrong.

I think you're right about the independants - I remember reading that somewhere. Having said that it's hard to think they'd not support Labour under a new leader, as Oakeshott and Windsor are facing almost certain defeat in their seats at the next election. Not sure about Wilkie and Bandts re-election prospects but they too would probably be keen to stick with Labour.

They'd be safe I reckon. Both have popular local support. Oakeshott is dead in the water no doubt and Windsor - as a local farmer and from a seriously establishment New England "landed gentry" family has disappointed a lot of voters by falling in with the socialists so I reckon his decision to retire soon (I think that's right) will see a Liberal get that seat. If I was a Labor member I'd be pushing for Stephen Smith to take over. I have always thought he was a well meaning and decent bloke who actually has some idea of what he is doing
