Sprint, I thought the club was unable to host finals due to facilities? Has this changed now the oval has improved?

I thought it had something to do with selling West End. You could always use Smithfield Oval sprinter LOL, you guys have an impressive reocrd there.

you should actually be disqualified from hosting finals for selling west end :)

i'd almost fogotten about that LM, thanks for the reminder. what a game that was in the 2008 EF.

Yeah, sorry.

Crazy game that was, wasnt good being on the wrong end of that result

I think we can both agree the oval back then lacked grass and wasnt fit enough for a normal game let alone a final.

trinity - colonel light (home), houghton (home), kenilworth (away) - prediction: 10 wins (colonel light, houghton) - favourable draw
united - henley (away), uni (away), ingle farm (home) - prediction: 9.5 wins (henley, ingle farm)
uni - glenunga (away), united (home), henley (away) - 9 wins (united, henley)
houghton - k'worth (home), trinity (away), colonel light (home) - prediction 8 wins (colonel light)

As second and third are now even between Glenunga & BOS, Any thoughts on how 2nd and 3rd will play out?
I think it will all come down to the Round 18 clash as both teams *should* win their next two game.

certainly creates an interesting 3 weeks and then an even more interesting QF in week 1. not often teams play each other in rd 18 and then the first week of finals. maybe a gentlemans agreement to have rd 18 off and see each other the following week :)
however, kenilworth could drop all 3 and that would throw the cat amongst the pigeons. i heard they were a little concerned with the number of outs they had on saturday.
my tip is a bos win in rd 18 to take second spot and the option to host at home or at a neutral venue.

not to be a know it all but it actually happened to us and kenilworth last year, played each other in round 18 with kenilworth getting the points at home by about 7 goals from memory and then exactly 7 days later at the same ground CLG got over the line by around 4 goals. i agree though, wouldnt happen very often

in 2005 KFC played CUFC last game of the round..a week later the first final..then 2 weeks another final..we won all 3 easily but it was getting boring by then playing the same guys :)

seems it happens more often than i thought. that 2005 situation between KFC and CUFC is remarkable. wasn't aware of that.

here's a twist to the scenario - is it often that a team that gets relegated from div 5 and a team that finishes 4th in div 7 in the same year play each other in rd 18 and the QF in the following year?

zedman wrote:thanks senor..a bit harsh i guess but fat full forwards dont make it in A grade imo..hes kicked 50 in 12 games as you say but how many more would a fitter, harder working forward have got? :) the 3 goals he got against us were absolute gimmes and the 3rd one he had 4 attempts at picking the ball up with no pressure on..i am looking to the future and this year he has given you a target so alls good..but for long term he isnt the man to build on..if some of those guys are u/16s then thats a great sign..we knew about 6 were juniors so i think payne is doing the right thing..frees were 31-22 IFFC way fwiw :P

Hey lads, get the friggen agget down there more often and the big fella would kick a ton. Fancy saying a bloke is too fat to play Div 6 footy at full forward. If you think smart full fullwards grow on trees then go pick another one. As for Smarty,i cant think of anybody that plays at IF that gives it more of a crack than him. Teach the runners to get at these blokes feet in the forward lines when it gets there and there may be more goals kicked.

I've seen Malbunka kick some freaky goals, sure his fitness may not be the greatest, but given opportunities he tends to make them count - I guess the proof is in the half century he has knotched up this year.
Still can't believe Lockleys didn't find him good enough for their A grade last year

he wasnt needed at lockleys because they had a GF team with a gun full forward..and he wasnt good enough to get in..its that simple..he wouldnt play FF in any team in the top 5 right now..

you play hall at FF and dont move him, hes got 25+ already :)

its all relative..if the ball comes in nice and sharp then a forward like mickan can still kick bags..you dont have to be "big" to kick goals as a key forward in these grades i reckon..class is a factor of course..

Young Naley was their most dangerous forward on sat. Hall played further up the ground against us which i found a bit odd.

AFAIK was reported for threatening the umpires as they left the ground? Think the club was also reported for conduct and vandalism.

apparently a certain deaf umpire miss understood some advice he gave him and decided to report him instead, the club is very mystified by it .

he was reported at 3/4 time thats why you got the free kick before the ball was bounced to start the last quarter, havent been told of any other reports yet.
