Well done Boys, a great win at a huge cost but let's put a lid on it, there's a long way to go. I remember losing to Glenelg in 2006 in about round 5, by 95 points. We made the Grand Final.

Went to today's game expecting a close game. Came away thinking I had just witnessed won of our greatest wins. No bench and win by 75 points. Incredible effort.

Still struggling to believe yesterday's game.

Highlights included: Goodrem's tackle count. Yves snap on goal (even though he missed). The game. The performance of every player. Hardy beating Grima. Pumpa's game. Milne after having to ruck and play almost the entire game, being put on Salopek on the wing and beating him. Glenelg kicking sideways. Paul Thomas's mid air kick. Havelberg's kicking. James Gowan's goal (yes he was too slow yesterday ;) ), how could Glenelg leave him in the goal square by himself? I'm sure everyone at the ground, other than the Glenelg coaching staff or players could see what was about to happen. Why wouldn't you put someone 30 metres in front of him? It was so obvious when eventually someone went back, the crowd cheered. Chris's game, after being written off every year, these guys (C & J) continue leading the way, inspirational.

Lowlights: The injuries, hearing the crack of Scotty's leg on the other side of the ground was sickening. Fortunately, for Scotty the laughing gas in the rooms took quick effect. How did Boydy not get a free kick for too high in the incident that dislocated his shoulder? The fact the game wasn't televised, so I can watch it again.

As far as minor round games go, I'd rate that with up there with our comeback from about 12 goals down against Sturt at Unley about 25 years ago (under D Hicks), and our comeback against Norwood at Norwood a few years ago. Very memorable game yesterday.

And?

How many Glenelg blokes had more then 20 possessions ?

How many hit outs went to advantage ?

Tackle count ?

How many marks Glenelg took in the defensive half ?

Effectiveness of our kicks vs Central?

meh.....

Jabber, even you've got to admit that having more inside 50s against a team that belted you by 75 points is a bizarre stat.

Our blokes won the "impression of training cone" stat quite convincingly I thought.

Not to mention the "leave a single opposition player unmarked in the goal square while all your defenders flood up the field" count. Heck, they didn't even let the obvious embarrassing goal curb their reluctance to go marching up the field; so determined were they to outperform Central in this area.

Any old team can play woefully through lack of interest. Yesterday our lads were determined to be cr@p, and they played their roles to perfection. Only a team with sheer passion for mediocrity could try so hard to play so badly - and succeed admirably. Central came not within a bull's roar of our lads yesterday.

Sigh.....

Had a good view of that one. No free kick, but the driver of the Karma Bus has his number. ;)

In the corresponding game:

2008 Glenelg win by 3 pts
2009 Draw
2010 Dogs by 10 pts.

Why is it so laughable that Glenelg could win?

Fitting a quadratic polynomial to that data and extrapolating to 2011 suggests that Central will win this year's fixture by 27 points.

I think you're missing an exponential or two ... #-o

Hmmmm... adding the 75 point margin as an extra data point, and now fitting a cubic polynomial, I see that next year's fixture should be a 243 point win to the Dogs.

I can hardly wait for that one... :(

I thought Boydy had his head down as he dived towards the ball. From memory, I thought the Glenelg player slid in from the opposite direction and copped him high (not malicious). Hence hit him from the top of the shoulder. However I saw it from the stands so could easily have been wrong.

Did anyone else see West Coast Eagles coach John Worsfold at the game yesterday?

Apparently he was in the Doggies rooms after the game?
