Just as soon as I can login on the laptop I will...

BTW, did Norman make any moves when the Bays got within say 25 pts? I heard that Sheedy ran all day without a rest.

Happy to hear that the skills were there for at least 2 quarters. But worried about what it might do to the group mentally.

Good question about moves .Maybe Voice knows as it sounds like he was in the rooms after the game to hear Norman tear strips off players . Well that will work won't it ! Voice what's your opinion ofwhat hhas occurred at Unley in the last 12 or so months ? From what I read and hear there are a few Sturt supporters that think all is always sunny at Unley yet never see the whole picture ?

I didn't see much in the way of moves in the last qtr. Must say that I had my head in my hands for most of it though as you could see what was coming. Normans spray wasn't huge in the rooms. I wasn't in there but was just outside of them. I was exaggerating a little.
As to the question of some Sturt supporters think it's always sunny and what do I think of the last 12 months, I'm guessing you are referring to doubleblue.org and will answer accordingly.
There are some "supporters" on there that constantly bag our club administration in terms of marketing and communication with members. They don't offer any help to the club and they don't realise just how lean our club runs.
Some of us do back the club up on there but we are also balanced in our view and have no problems mentioning something negative. The posters that we jump on are always negative but dissapear when the club starts doing well. We don't need supporters like that.
On our last 12 months, we have been pretty pathetic in our resolve and yes, our coach isn't making moves when you can see momentum swinging back to the opposition. He is in his third year now and I'm happy with him being given this year to prove himself. After this season though, if things don't improve with his coaching style, I'm happy for the club to look at other options as this one clearly isn't working.

Thanks Voice . There are some on DB Org that seem to back the club up which is great but I dont see it as balanced on many occassions. I wasn't having a shot at Sturt FC as they do run lean and must be commended as they do face more hurdles than most clubs .

Any truth to the talk that Sturts presentations were cancelled??

Was this because of another unrelated incident?

Genuine question, as it seems quite odd.

It doesn't have to be "balanced". Is the mass media balanced? No football club is sunshine and happiness 24/7, not even Sturt but there are other avenues for venting. Airing dirty linen on the site serves no purpose and officials at the club have regularly provided the opportunity to go straight to the source.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I used the term balanced in response to Voices' comment . Not sure what the mass media has to do with it.

Postby 85 WAS A GOOD YEAR » Sun Apr 03, 2011 12:55 pm

I was happy with the newbies.
Brad Agnew was terrific for a kid who hadn't even played a Reserves game, coming straight in from U18s last season.
Ben Kennedy had his own cheer squad, the Sacred Heart first 18s - who were a very loud a supportive group who certainly enjoyed the last quarter. Ben only Kicked 3 behinds, but showed good signs from a lad who started in from U16s last year and finished it with a good U18s GF.
Wade Hancock was quiet for first 3 qtrs, but his first mark and goal in the last were sensational and will be remembered by many for a long time.
Jordan McMahon was accurate and reliable when we needed to be in the last.

Neither Ben Mules or the Coaches will be able to write down how we did it. From memory I think we did something similar against Westies a couple of years ago as well, just not as big a deficit.
The belief and ability to come back is great. Getting so far behind is not a good habit to get into, so I hope the focus on the 1st 3Qtrs in their reviews this week as that really needs addressing.

Was also great to witness 2 former GFC junior players playing together again in a winning game for their junior club after suffering through the Richmond years - Danny Meyer and Jordan McMahon.

hurts, absolutely hurts...

but i said to rhino at 3/4 time, its not over and i ws proved right...

we have a good team, way better than i thought and i tipped the bays by 9 goals...but to lose in that fashion...pathetic...just hope we dont fall over like that again...

some positives but the end result outweighs anything we did...ouch

Disappointing result (for Sturt supporters...) but there were a lot of positives to come out of the game. Sturt's inexperience in the final quarter cost them and hats off to the Bays for never giving up. I was very impressed with the games of Thompson, Sheedy and Crane and thought the AFL boys also did a good job. Well done to Duldig on a great debut for the club. His continued efforts throughout suggest he will be a suitable replacement for Chambo. Very disappointed with the final quarter from Hinge. As an experienced player he simply didn't maintain intensity. Likewise Johncock went missing in that last quarter with some pretty slack efforts.

I liked the look of Wingard. He went at it like a bull at a gate and could be one to watch out for.

Overall, a bad result but signs were there for three quarters that it may not be the horror year some were predicting. Bays would have left the ground feeling pretty chipper, but I reckon when they look back on their performance there's a lot to be worried about... The Sleeping Giant may be on to something...

I was at a wedding Saturday arvo/evening andthe groom was a Sturt supporter.
He asked me who won and as I only heard the score from very early in the last quarter I told him Sturt thrashed the Bays.
Whoops!

Johncock is underdone and Hinge is a concern but seems to hold his place somehow.

As for the last Quarter Sturt had no players available to come on which would not have helped at all . Cuubillo hardly played and never returned after half time.

Coach’s Corner with Mark Mickan
Saturday's 19-point win over Sturt at Gliderol Stadium represented what can be achieved when the senior playing group has a collective “never give in” mentality.
From a Glenelg point of view there was much to be critical of in the first three quarters of the game, which saw Sturt superior in every aspect. Sturt were clearly ahead in centre clearances, contested possession, and skill level, which was reflected on the score board with Glenelg behind by 41 points.
Despite being outplayed for three quarters, at the three quarter time huddle there was a clear sense of belief in the eyes, the body language, and the communication of the players. They wanted to get it right. They were clearly willing to hang on to any plan to tackle the situation, and as a group they were prepared to stick to it.
Even after Sturt kicked the first goal of the final quarter, there was no dropped heads or “poor me” body language. This type of reaction was a key factor in the resurgence that was about to unfold.
Going forward much confidence can be gained from this experience in terms of believing in a “never say die” approach, and much will also be learned from the first three quarters when clearly we were well below par in too many key areas.
Thank you to our wonderfully loud and loyal group of supporters who cheered the players to victory in a stirring last quarter effort from everyone at the ground. This week we take on Port Adelaide, who have shown great preseason form and missed out by three points to Norwood on in Round One. See you at Alberton for a 2.10pm start.
Also well done to Adam Blakely and the Under 16s, Tim Lawrence's Under 18s and Kris Massie and the Reserves on their Round One wins.
