What about the Gold Coast Suns. Surely they are starting fresh.

Yes, you're right, TSG.

At last, after many, many tries.

Congratulations ;)

Looks like Todd Miles is an out for North and with Allan and Gill in some doubt I don't think we can win to be honest.

The defence without Miles looks light on as Lee didn't look comfortable back there in the Nwd trial game. Other than McIntyre we need some height and size in defence and Miles was in at CHB and anyone of Mason, Lee or Angus also to play down back to help Macca. We will be forced again to use the likes of Gallman and Cunnignham to stand taller and bigger bodied players.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

otr, it seems as if North made a conscious decision not to recruit much interstate and build up with local and other club SANFL players. Do you think that's correct and if so, is the current problem just through injuries, or do you think you're a bit light on anyway?

Well we do have 80 pokies and a soccer club to run as well as a new grandstand to be built, surely recruiting a winning footy side is well down the list of priorities!
I think recruiting right across all of the SANFL clubs has dropped and IMHO is a result of the salary cap and our comp being less and less attractive to interstate recruits each year.
Due to this all clubs will be requires to promote local talent and shop less interstate.
A result that has both pros and cons.(but much preferable by th AFL and other leagues)
It's probably hit North badly with the amount of recent retirements.
Having said that even a lesser side will perform better than the last 2 years because the previous coach was so bad.

I reckon it's due to the cost now for interstate recruiting (too expensive for rough diamonds now) and clubs trying to develop that core of local talent (outside those that will be drafted) they hope to have for 5-10 years.

Sorry for going OT .. As an impartial supporter Im interested in this game (as with the other two matches) to see how both teams start the year and which styles they adopt .. Both should be "up" for the occasion so I would expect a tight one either way.

Gold Coast and GWS has also had an impact. As has the AFL clubs being able to recruit mature age rookies.

Strong looking West side - the only question I have is which Hartlett will get injured first?

Roosters by 5 goals...

North will play finals this year providing Gill kicks straight and Alleway stays off the pies...

Best looking round 1 side we have put on the park for a fair while.

I can see us winning at prospect for the first time for a long time this weekend.

A fair question. One thing we do know though is that neither of them will do a hammy as a result of being chased out of defence by Daniel Motlop.
