IF i was the Australian coach this is what I would tell David Warner if AU bats first in 20/20 games
David, just pretend the opposition made 200
Dont think
Just try and hit every ball you face tonight for a boundary
If you are confused just watch how you used to bat when you first started playing

I don't see how you can criticise Finch about his running between the wickets being slow, yet call for the inclusion of the Cosgrove.

He did do something tonight, he had the 2nd best strike rate of the AU batsman

SMITH is a good 20/20 cricketer
What I like about him is he has a go, he does not bat like a person playing for his spot
he is a team player, tonight was no exception

20/20 Career Internationals
BATTING
9 innings
96 runs
s/rate 137
BOWLING
16 wickets
333 runs
eco rate 7.83
strike rate 15.93

he is like Watto in the old days
he bats very low, and does not get the opportunities to bat for long periods
what he does batting 7-8-9 is good enough for me
his bowling in this format is very good

SMITH has talent, and 20/20s+ ODIs are his game
tests, dunno

SMITH is also arguably the best 20/20 fieldsman in the team tonight

Crap Mal, scoring 15 off 11 at that stage was puss!! Don't use the fact the rest were just as bad tonight as a way to make his stats look better. If one D Christian got going, or Birt even, they would have at least 22 of 11. Smith even tried to hit a wide ball outside off through mid wicket, he's not a batsmens shoe lace!!

OK he struggled 15 off 11
But he has a strike rate of 137, so he has batted well in some previous matches

He is a good 20/20 cricketer
Your hard to satisfy ?
IF you havago at his Test career, I could be agreeable, not 20/20

i haven't read any posts (will go back after posting my thoughts)

...batting...obviously they didn't make enough, (i said at half time we're 20 runs short & at one stage a near 200 total was looking likely) i thought warner & watson were better than watson & hughes at opening  i understood white coming up the order but how the hell does hussey who is a run accumulator but not a T20 striking batsmen comes in before paine is unbelieveable .....if not for watsons 26 off swanns first over the game would have been all over at half time, (was almost anyway)

bowling...i thought tait was very stiff & had the catch with the first ball been taken we may've won (even the 2nd catch) watson was terrific & my man of the match (who got it ?) & his bowling was superb, i thought lee bowled well & showed a lot of fight, spark & emotions, as for johnson well to me while the 'speedo' had him around the 140kph i thought his run up was very slow & he only quickened up over the last 3 or 4 steps to deliver, surely they aren't playing injured players ?

while they won i reckon it was the 2nd time this season the poms panicked in their latter innings (first was perth)

my thoughts for changes would be

christian for hussey
???????? for johnson

i'd also look/think about hodge or ferguson

while it was an entertaining night & the closeness of the scores made it slightly interesting the batting let us down as we were about 20 runs short (did text scd this at half time)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Smith is certainly worth perservering with in the shorter forms.
Would like to see him do a bit more on the test arena soon.
It ain't his fault he got lumped into number 6, cause he ain't one.
The Don and Chappelli started at 6, so did Doug Walters.....Smith ain't any of them.
What he is ( according to Chappelli,, a pretty astute judge I would've thought) is a modern day Benaud.
He can bat but needs to develop as a wrist spinner,, brilliant fielder.

As for tonights game,,, he batted ok but wasn't alone.
I would've thought a more experienced cricketer in Hussey should've played a better "team" innings than what he did.

Let's not forget that the poms were without Anderson, Broad, tremlett..ETC..and can't find any room for Prior who did well for the VICS....

I'd say we were pretty much at full strength ??????

good night at the Oval tonight, the English depth in all forms of cricket is very impressive.

WTF is up with Warner? He has become more of a grafter than a big hitter, the English showed how the first 6 overs should be played and set up the win from there.

O'Keefe, Smith and Paine arent up to it yet...thats the difference, we pick players and hope, the English know their guys can/will perform.

Hopefully Tait does something soon- half track crap is too easy to swat away even at 150ks...

And Tait Lee Johnson as your 'main' bowlers is gifting 100 runs away. Can any of these guys change their pace occasionally?
