Surely you would want to avoid them! But it is probably better to get them out of the way in the group stage rather than the knockout round...

Both of those reasons!

Massive game - it would be magic to see Messi and his mates at the Lane on a european night!

And to get them out of the way early would be a bonus too.

Plus, by getting Barca in the group stage, you can't be drawn with Real Madrid, who are in pot 2. A mare of a draw would be Inter, Real and Auxerre.

I'd love: Barca, Benfica (Massive history between Spurs and Benfica) and Zilina (who fingers crossed we could at least draw with at home

Drawing Lyon from Pot 1 would be the easy option out, but all disrespect intended, who the **** are Lyon  - that'll no doubt come back and take a chunk out of my fat arse!

What ur already thinking ur going to get out of the group stage  3rd place finish for spurs 8)

Pretty happy with that draw.

Spurs have a tough one, Werder are not a bad side and the games between those two will probably decide things.

How do you think Man U will go up at Ibrox? Obviously the Scottish league is not much chop any more, but like the Celtic game a few years back, the Gers will be fired up like never before.

Group G is the group of death. Ajax could cause AC Milan problems.

Agree that Spurs group is tough. Our one saving grace is that Inter and Twente have new managers. I really can't see us progressing out of the group stage to be honest. Although I do expect us to beat FC Twente and Bremen at home. Spurs need to learn how to park the bus away and get the job done at home, otherwise we'll be back in the wilderness.

But at the end of the day, I'm chuffed to bits that we're in and playing the current champions!

We have Rangers at home first up so should win there but Ibrox will be rocking. Scottish teams are usually tough to beat in their own backyard even though Rangers are pretty ordinary, a point won't be the worst result but I do expect to beat them.

Inter's new manager is Rafa who is a master in Europe I have to admit, they have winning experience now, it will be interesting to see if they carry that on. They play Atletico tomorrow morning in the Super Cup.

Big learning experience for Spurs, they can't go away and play their normal game. They need to learn to park the bus like you said and play the counter attacking game. Bale will be a key there I think, big test for the young Welsh lad.

Group G is brutal! Even Auxerre won't be the easiest team to take points off.

That is going to be a cracking group.
Group B is a tough & even group of teams as well
Look forward to watching the champions league as you get some cracking games and the smaller teams can cause upsets.

Great result for United this morning especially with the big outs that they had, 1 nil over Valencia. Well done to young Hernandez for scoring.Great to also see them keep a clean sheet hopefully Rio has pulled up ok after another run, also think that young Rapha should start ahead of O'shea in the future.

Fantastic to see the little Mehican score! Very tidy finish too.

Agree about O'Shea too, not sure how he continues to get a game really, he offers nothing going forward and is hardly a world class defender. Raphael is the future.

About time we kept a clean sheet as well.

Sorry Marty i like o'shea he may not be classy but he is a good honest worker the type of player fergie loves. Still dont rate Carrick he is the weak link and would love to see him offloaded

Great result this morning for both English teams with Tottenham getting up 3-1 and United winning in
Turkey 3-0. After a quiet first half United came out to play in the second starting with Fletcher scoring the first, followed by goals to Obertan and Bebe. Good to see Carrick getting some touch back after starting the last few matches set up Fletch with a good ball for the opener. What can you say about Paul Scholes other than he is brilliant would be one of the best passers of the ball in the game.

Great result for spurs. Bale must be the best left wing in the league by a country mile. The guy has pace, energy, a great left foot and can score a few himself. 3 outstanding crosses = 3 goals for spurs. Two of those crosses whilst in full flight.
Sensational player IMO
Spurs go top of the group and look certain to qualify for the ko stages

Bale is a gun, his form has been slowly building but has announced himself big time through these UEFA games. Has ability to take them on and a wicked side step which opens sides up and can finish.

Bit of a shock loss for the arse today. Always hard going to eastern europe to play but after going ahead early very un-arsenal to concede two goals. One was to eduardo by all reports. Anyone catch the marseille highlights 7-0 and could have been 15-0

Man U through to last 16
Rangers to the Europa Cup..... Again!!

Spurs through to last 16

So if Chelsea and Arsenal can follow them we are in for a real possibility of some "local" derbies

What chance Arsenal v Spurs??

JTC, hope not, still living on the glory of last weekend. How do they do the round of 16, I would think they seed top 8 and then just random draw. Pretty sure that MU, Chelski and The Goons would all be seeded??????????????
