Round 21: Round 3 of Finals Trades and Discussion

Postby CoverKing » Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:44 pm

Divvy 1 is wide open with two cracking semi finals to be had.

Woodys Dropkicks and CoverKing's Army face off in the easier preliminary final to earn the right to be a premier league coach next year. Let's hope its not consecutive preliminary finals losses for CoverKing's Army. CK could get lucky with the tradeless (?) Woodys stuck with the 'champion' Simon Goodwin on the pine.

In the second prelim final, is Dutchy's Dodo's and Hondo ..... (cant be stuffed spelling the rest). Both sides have been in ripping form and this game could produce the unluckiest prelim loss out of all the divisions. Possible loser to have a score of 2350+. Hondo the man to beat in this one IMO.

REB's REBCATS will scrap through this week in the Premier League and do his normal Port Power's replica in the GF.

How are all the other divvys looking?

Div III is looking interesting too.

Semi 1 sees my Bulldogs (2) up against Marion ManBearPigs (3)

Knocking off Corky in their Qualifier and getting a box seat in the Semi was a good start and my bullies failed miserably to post my second lowest score for the year making it the hard way after touching up the Lioneaters last week.
with less than 200 points between us in total points it shapes up to be a cracker, if last weeks scores are anything to go by (2268 MMBP - 2230 BB) i think it will go down to the wire.
My tip unfortunately is the Pigs in a close one, both to score 2200+ and margin 1-50pts

Semi 2 sees REB's magoos Straycat Strut (3) up against finals surprise packet Browny's boys (8)

After Brownys Boys scraped into the finals in the last round he has gone from strength to strength and knocked off our leader Corky. Reb could be in trouble here but i reckon he'll get up in another tight one...

I reckon CoverKing can beat Woody and will. I was secretly hoping I could meet woody in the prelim because I reckon I have his team covered.

As for Dutchy and I it will go down to the wire like last time I reckon when it was 2 measley points. I have injury worries over Sandilands, Hurn and Brown and couldn't use 3 trades even if I had them so it could be a tough week.

Not liking the talk of resting Freo players for the trip to Tassie. Another week off for Sandi and a rest for Pav is the talk.

CONCRETE PILLS HARVEY. Beat the Hawks and you get the home final. Rest em now and you could lose both games and have to travel. For me resting players on the Tassie trip makes no sense. Wrap it up this week and get the team some invaluable road form. Can't win the flag without road form and if they can win in Tassie it would do wonders.

Resting players in Round 21?? A little late for that I would have thought.

A bit harsh CoverKing. If I make the granny I'll probably be up against darcy who scored even more than Hondo last week! My team is solid but injuries to Sandilands and Harbrow and the suspension of Rioli robbed me of important upgrade trades. I'll need a lot of luck to take out this Hogg Shield and luck is something that is foriegn to me at this time of year.

How common is my dilemma?

I have Brown, Pavlich and only 1 playing emergency on the bench

Pav out, JB named but doubtful I presume. For a must win prelim I can't afford a donut if Brown withdraws on Saturday. So am forced to trade one of them.

Pav or JB?

I am leaning towards an answer but I have to keep my cards close to my chest. Who else is in this boat?

Are you saying my dilemma is not common because no-one has any trades!

I have to admit I don't have as many as I did this time last year.

At least two of the Div 5 Preliminary finalists have no trades left.

In answer to your question I'd trade out whichever of Brown or Pavlich are likely to be out next week as well.

In the same boat there Hondo, although its turned out to be a good problem
Im assuming Woodys has not trades left, and he has Hughes from Melbourne on the pine (who wont play), plus Pavlich (wont play), and Lockyer (dropped and wont play). He also has brown! So as is, i am one player up already :D So if Brown pulls out and affects my side, it doesnt bother me because he wont be covered in Woodys side either!

In my other league, the player has Pavlich, Higgins, Fyfe, with forward covers in Hitchcock and Watts

Brown looks good to go as per an article today so I am now considering not trading at all

Seems a bit pointless as I have cover for Pavlich, albiet not the greatest scorer in Watts.

Not sure ...

Yeah, think I'll hold fire

I estimated Duthy's and my score and I worked out a draw!!!

Too close to call. If I am lucky enough to win I'll trade next week in the GF. Either that or I'll be fighting out for Hogg rankings honours.

Good luck everyone!

EDIT: changed my mind at the last minute ..... I see Dutchy brought in Boomer Harvey ... good choice!
