Bottom 8 teams have the 'easy' draw so means we will have easy draw also. Play top 6 once. Only need to win 8 games to make finals. That is the aim, to be competitive, why else would you play??

We have lost two players from last year and picked up 11. Have basically had 20 new players over last 12 months so is completely different team. Best preparation I've seen in 6 years. Under 18's this year for first time in Div 1, heading in the right direction.

If we improve and others don't or drop off who knows what might happen.

Even our oval is looking good, love the bore water

And what happens to Aldinga when the money dries up and god doesn't decide to help you and the sharks still finish outside the finals and all the players leave? Its great to recruit a whole side, but that doesn't engender success and the crash will burn the club once again. But I guess short sighted planning is part of the whole process of trying to buy winning games.

Can't wait to see aldinga start to win a few games. hope they have a good year, they have been doing it tuff since the 2 divisions joined and by the sounds of it they have picked up some good players for 2007. You need to spend a bit of money these days to even get in the 8. Don't be to hard on them croc for spending a bit of cash, If the sharks can start climbing the ladder a bit they will attract more people to the club. It's hard to get new people to a club when other clubs around you are having success. alot of kids and other players want to go to clubs that are winning games, so if the sharks can get back in the winners circle for a while it will be easier in coming years to get players to stay around and kids to want to play for them. There are plenty of other clubs spending close to if not over the salary cap in the SFL, so if the sharks can afford to spend some money why not spend it. Nigel and the board i think have done a good job in keeping the place going so let the good time start rolling for the sharks.

I think for Aldinga to be able to field an under 18s team for the first time in div 1 is a great step in the right direction. However, i believe for a club to be truely successful you need players who want to play for the club and arent just chasing the dollars.

Also doesn't help recruiting when your juniors go to Willunga High who have just won 3 Great Southern A grade Grand finals, you will also find some of Aldinga's last U18 team playing A grade for Willunga.

Is one of the brothers who played in the Mid South East League with Tantanoola last year, going back to play for Aldinga again this season?

Yes. Rohan Garrard. He kicked 6 goals in Tants 1st game last year. Bryce Garrard unsure what he'll do. He's off to work in Sydney for 3 months.
Adam Walden still going to coach Tantanoola hoping for back to back and Brett not sure what he'll do

Yeah, i saw a few Tant games last year, they were very strong, Rohan ended up in the Reserves, but did well in the B GF win, should be a handy player to come back to your club. Adam Walden did very well in his first year as coach down there, although he had some fairly decent players there, so wasn't a surprise for them to win the flag. Bryce had a good year, clever player.

Rohan played B Grade in grand final, played first 13 A's but was dropped cause didn't train in Adelaide. Was dropped due to fitness, not skill. Will train better at Aldinga cause lives 2 min from club, not 4 hours. Just had beer with Brett Walden, himself and Bryce most likely play at Tantanoola again.

Remember when one of my old sparring partners from the Hills forum (Lynchy) predicted about this time last year that Aldinga was going to be much improved in '06. It didn't quite turn out that way but it appears they'll go much better this season.

Lynchy has now coached Aldinga for a year and has seen the standard of Southern. We all know the hard work required this year. Has been plenty of interest from players this year, keen to play for the Sharks. We were all disappointed but most players have signed on again. Very early so wait and see.

Lynchy is a positive guy, the glass is half full.

I wasn't having a go at the guy by the way because I honestly had no idea that he was coaching Aldinga, I just remember him predicting that they would have an improved showing in 2006 and of course I remember him from our lively discussions in the Hills forum about 7 months ago.

At least he is a footballer, big unit, nice bloke. His main reason would be a few mates at club/ fresh start. Rugby, soccer, Over 40's, U18'S have been making up the A grade side for last 5 years.

Harmans are 19 and 21 years old, yet to hit prime I would think
