505 disposals and coaches comments

Postby spell_check » Sun Jul 04, 2010 8:12 pm

Don't know if it's been noticed on here, but Geelong had 227 kicks and 278 handballs (along with 122 marks). That's a first from what I know.

A couple of coaches now have egg on face after this week. After the showdown, Mark Williams made a refrain similar to this in the press conference "the kids of South Australia have to remember one thing, one team is going up and the other is going down"

Since then, Port won the following week; and has lost the last 7. Adelaide has won 5 out of 8 matches.

Also, after West Coasts' loss to Richmond a few weeks ago, John Worsfold was asked about his feelings on the possibility that the West Coast would win the wooden spoon "It won't happen so no emotion at all .... absolutely confident" was his response. West Coast are now outright last, and while we are 8 matches away from the finals, they are wooden spoon favourites with the continual improvement of Richmond.

Mark Williams is full of intelligence, I thought he would have kept his mouth shut ever since his comments prior to the 2007 GF when he said the pressure would get to Geelong.
God I hope he's at the Power forever.

Quite the opposite, it's the fact we have a long and good memory as to why were so good at dishing it out. ;)
Seems were not the only ones with the Power's own market research showing the top 5 reasons behind it's fall in attendances and membership can be related to the coach and his failed gameplan.
The ironic part about it is the Power can't afford to cut Williams as he's under contract for next year and they can't afford to keep him because of lost revenue.
Some real Einsteins down Alberton way making decisions.
Ahh well, they'll always have the SANFL to bail them out.

Yeah, those silly duffers down there. Why didn't they look into their crystal ball and see what was going to unfold in the 12 months ahead. FFS....

Boak, Harlett, Tredrea, Krakouer, Gray. Surely they could have seen those injuries coming. I just dont get how they couldn't?

Heads must roll. Even when we were 5-2 at the start of the year they should have been questioning the game plan.

So many unanswered questions.

Good cal Boonster, it's not the Power have had these issues for at least a couple of seasons and they only started appearing after round 7 this year.
I'll hazard a guess that the Power marketing research was in regards to the last few years not just the last few games.
I could have saved them the money and time with a bit of common sense but hey, we all know money isn't an issue down at Alberton, the SANFL will always bail them out. ;)

LOL, good call. Geelong supporters hang in here for 40 years awaiting succes while Power fans leave in droves a couple of years after success while the few that stay whinge like stuck pigs blaming the world for their clubs ineptness after giving it out for years when they followed a successful club. Yep, we're the front runners!
Boo hoo. Poor liddle Power, never been the same since that 119 point drubbing!

Yep, a frontrunner with 25 years experience. In this thread we are a basketcase AND frontrunners? Make your mind my friend. You sound like a bloke that has two clubs to follow and none of them are winning.

I have and will continue to stick by them so I trust you are not including me in the "droves" who are leaving. And it is the continual barbs from your good self that will make our inevitable return to the top of the table even sweeter. The draft system ensures every team has the opportunity to peak and then without fail they will return to the pack. We had out time at the top and only managed the one flag whilst there. A little disappointing, sure, but we were up against the best side of the 2000's in the Brisbane Lions. They won 3 in a row, you know? Very good effort that.

Anyway, it's only a matter of time before the Cats are back with the rest of the pack so sure, enjoy it while it lasts but you know that anything less than a flag this year will be another wasted opportunity.

Nah mate, I was including you in the other lot I mentioned. ;)

I'm sure unfortunately Williams won't be there forever an the Power might one day get a good coach who can raise them up to a middle of the road club mind you with the Gold Coast and GWS coming in I can't see the bottom clubs getting enough decent picks to improve greatly for a while. Clubs that have the smarts to pick up James Podsiadlys and other clubs left overs like Tom Harleys should broaden the gap though. Worse comes to worse we'll just get a few more ex players to breed!

That's what we are doing Boon. As for wasted opportunity I'd take two flags over one any day. And at least we didn't lose finals to inferior teams at Cat Park!

That's not all we've got Notso. If Trav decided to come home you'd have an erection the size of Johnny Wad himself.

It will be wasted, there is no doubt. For at the end of 2010 you will have been the best side for 4 consecutive years so to only have two flags would be a waste.

If we don't win it this year are we still the best side? The ladder says we are top but I believe there isn't much between the Saints and the Cats at all. Last year's granny was a very stressful day. Lose that then it's a waste for sure.
