Taped the game, watched the replay. Probably the worst game of football I have ever seen, just horrible. Horrible.

South fans would be spewing about this one. Their scrappy, but good, start by holding North goalless with the wind in the first 20 minutes, to then give up two late easy goals with poor discipline and skills, really ruined their efforts and their second was woeful. They looked better in the second half when they got a bit of run going.
The difference was North had Allen and Alleway. However, still can't understand the way Healy wants North to play. The motto in the North changerooms is "attack wins matches, defence wins premierships", which is absolute BS. Both are required as are knwing when to apply them, as Port and Centrals have shown over the last 20 years
Umpiring was consistent, however whoever is instructing them to pay the frees they are ought to be strung up in the public square and stoned. According to the ABC this was the fifth game this year involving North with 60+ frees.

(Courtesy of Spelly in the Ask Spelly Stats forum), the lowest actual official crowd figure ever at Prospect is 1,542 in Round 21 2001 vs Glenelg.

Today, the official crowd figure was 1,523?

New record for lowest official crowd ever at Prospect?

Oh and I forgot to add, the umpires were an absolute disgrace and all 3 should never be allowed to umpire again. Disgrace.

don't despair South supporters

although you lost the game there were some good signs

the fightback from 40 odd points down to hit the lead in the final term was commendable

some good signs starting to show from this young side still developing

I thought the change of Mckenna into the ruck turned the game with Cockshell going forward

it was just undiciplined errors that cost South the game today

(can't understand why supporters bag the umpires when you've won the game?)

I think its a fair view point if the winning team bags the umpires, its shows that supporters DO know the game and only need umpires there to adjuicate the rules to keep it a fair contest, thats all both teams want. We dont need umpires dictating how they want the game played, the players set that standard whether it be a good game or a bad game.

Yes, we were very undisciplined at times today, and that may or may not have cost us the win, who knows, but we are starting to get things together, we have some exciting youngsters on the move up, this will take a bit of time together for better results, maybe soon than a lot of people think.

McKenna going on the ball gave us a competitive edge in ruck, with Cockshell up forward, someone to aim for and take a few strong grabs.

We are only a small bunch of die hards who go each week, and when the team starts to string some wins on the board, the barrackers will return, the supporters are already here watching.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

In typical fashion, South teased their supporters, only to be over run in the dying minutes. Played some good footy in the second half, wasted opportunities in the 1st Q, while every week we go missing in a Q, yesterday it being the 2nd Q.

Disappointing to lose McKernan to the crows, when he didn't end up playing for them anyway. Had Cook back though, but he wouldn't have had more than 5 kicks.

Frustrating day, but a few positives to come from it.

You are right Saintal, we get teased every week.
At the moment its one quarter that is letting us down. Yesterday it was the second; some stupid free kicks given away with some undisciplined acts , that in the end cost us a game that was definitely winnable. We are perhaps 2-3 good players away from becoming a good side.
oh well there is always next week....

can anybody explain what the free kick to Pollock was for late in the game? Looked to be a genuine contest for the footy from where I was standing. Sour grapes yes.

I saw 1 up close the entire game.

Reckon there would have been 100-120 on the other side of where I was.

I think you should open your eyes a bit. There were far more than 3 South supporters in attendance yesterday. It is a given that South supporters are few and far between- newsflash, we have had very little success in the last generation and havent won a flag for almost 50 yrs. Those that still support the club deserve a bloody medal; not the goading, baiting and derision they get most weeks from some opposition supporters.
I think North should be most concerned about the poor number of their own supporters at the game. I've attended plenty of games at Prospect during Norths poorer years when the crowd has been double yesterdays. North are still well and truly in finals contention and to draw such a small contingent of your own supporters is a concern, never mind our meagre contribution.
