Saving Files as PDF's

I am getting my head around advancing my knowledge of computers by doing a night school course on "Creating and Maintaining A Website" at TAFE. With the knowledge that I gain, I am going to operate a Dreamteam website for my local cricket club.

In one section, I want to save Publisher files (four-page update newsletters) as pdf's. The new multi-function unit at work turns the colour print into a black and white document with little spots (that you get from time to time on a copier) across the page, which don't look sensational and the maroon and gold logo turns into a very dark and unrecognisable blob.

What - if it is possible - is the best way to save these files in colour so I can upload them onto the web page ... at least I know how to upload them

You need to get Adobe Acrobat by paying (through the nose) for it or...there are other ways.
However the free PDFCreator is very good at doing what you describe.

Do me and the rest of the world a favour and don't use PDF, I hate it and I hate every email every website that uses it.
Do the hard yards and put them in proper HTML and your site will have a lot more cred, traffic and look a hell of a lot better.

What I am doing is a "Scores" page for updated team totals, knockout comp progress, etc. and on a "Newsletter" page just producing copies of periodical newsletters (e.g. after rounds). If I get really confident, I'll do it via HTML but with a readership of about 50-75, then I don't think many will be too aggrieved by opening it (especially since I'll print 5-10 copies and leave them at the club) - it will be mainly a historical reference.
