WARNING:RDO today,Rambling post follows.
After reading your latest post on this today I have had a bit of a play around* and have a few suggestions for you.
This morning I recorded 60 minutes of TV from my capture card to my HD. The resultant mpeg was 5.7 gig and this was encoded to a DVD compliant folder (about 1.4 gig)in around 50 minutes which in turn was converted into an ISO file and then burnt to DVD with perfect result.Total time therefore was just under an hour.
Your game file and my file are roughly equal in size which I found a little surprising as yours would run for about 2 1/2 hours where mine only runs 60 minutes.I am guessing that you recorded ABC Standard Definition while I recorded in High Definition hence bigger file.I expect if I had recorded the same game as you,my file would be up around 17gig.This probably should have little effect on the quality of your finished DVD for practical purposes but I mention it to indicate that I am able to encode at 7 times (if you go by file size) the rate you are getting and my pc has relatively modest specs..I guess that was a long way of saying something must be wrong at your end!
My suggestions for converting mpeg to DVD--
As alluded to by Psyber,Nero is seen by many to be the source of all evil and while some swear by it others like me only swear at it.
Uninstall Nero, and download and run the Nero removal tool from the Ahead (Nero) website. This is important as uninstalling Nero will still leave behind remnants that can and do interfere with other burning and encoding programs.Nero has become a bloated and invasive POS that tries to be all things to all people and IMHO does nothing that can't be done better by simpler, generally free programs.
To contradict myself immediately,I am yet to find a free program that will simply and quickly do what it is you are trying to achieve. If it exists,I would like to know about it.Some times you have to bite the bullet if you intend to do this kind of thing on a regular basis.
As I mentioned in a previous post download Winavi video Converter.Using the trial version will leave a watermark on your finished movie but if you think it works ok,you can decide if it is worth paying for. This is a very simple thing to use, basically just point it at your mpeg, tell it where to save the DVD folder and away it goes.Seriously I can not recommend this program enough.
DVD Shrink (free) will convert the Video_TS file in the DVD Folder into an ISO File that you can burn onto DVD with the burning app of your choice eg Image Burn(also free).
Sorry if I appear to be lecturing you,I am just trying to say what works for me. Usual disclaimers apply but can't see why it won't work for you.
