VHS to DVD conversion

What's the most convenient method of transferring
video tapes to DVD?
I have VHS in LP and Super LP to complicate things.

Haven't tried yet but I've intended to try connecting an old VHS machine into my hard disk recorder and TV system.
That recorder also has a DVD burner built in, but as I've only got one or two tapes I want to transcribe and I'm not sure I'll get round to it because of other priorities for my time.
I may just decide it doesn't matter enough and give the tapes and the two VHS machines the flick.

I'm only guessing, as I haven't looked into the VHS tape side of things, but a video capture card should do the trick. You can buy external video capture cards.

I might have to get a DVD - VHS combo as my super lp video is
chewing up my tape.
Is it easier to do this or get the tape heads seen to?

I've connected my video recorder to my DVD recorder and works a treat apart from the odd video with copyright protection.
has been great to convert the old SANFL videos to dvd

You can connect your VCR to a computer using a TV Tuner card.
TV Tuner cards allow you to watch and record TV on your computer, and they also allow you to connect video devices (Eg VCR) as long as you have the correct cables for it which can be a pain in the ass.
They can be connected via USB or PCI.
You can then save the video as an AVI, etc.
