I have an ACER laptop, it charges up, I turn it on & the pretty blue lights go on, I can hear the fan but after about 10 seconds, the computer turns off, then after a few seconds, back on & so forth BUT the screen doesn't go on, any thoughts?

Its ******! Is it a netbook? I had an Acer netbook that did the same thing. I took it to CalibreOne to get fixed, it cost $50 and worked well for about a week. Did the same thing so I took it back. They fixed it again for free, but said if it does it again to just chuck it out. A few days later it was in the bin.

possibly a hard drive. mac solutions/ pc emergency did a free quote for me when my hard drive went. They are pretty pricey for repairs. quoted about $500 for new hard drive and software installed. cost me $80 and about an hour of my time to have it back up and running.

What a coincidence. My screen went yesterday. Lucky still under warranty, and can still hook it up to tv and projector.

You've caught a virus from a porn site

I've had a virus off & on for years.
Thanks for the advice, sounds like another expensive piece of junk.

Sounds a bit like a probable hard drive failure to me, although I had a desktop do something similar and it turned out to have crack in the mother board.

Try :

Remove the battery for 5 minutes and reset.

It may be time to think about a new laptop.

Nothing lasts forever.

Check ebay.

Buy the best that you can afford.

Don't settle for 2nd best. Do your homework.
