iTunes

Postby Big Phil » Sun Apr 01, 2012 10:28 pm

Have an older iPod Nano that I set up on my wife's old Mac and have accumulated about 1200 songs and a few videos on there...

Wife has now got a new Mac and I want to get the iPod set up so I can control it from my own laptop, which is not a Mac...

What is the best / easiest way to transfer the library over?

There's 2 ways just open up iTunes and go file>library>export library this will give you a copy of your entire library which you can select where it will be saved to, you then just have to copy it onto a external hard drive or burn it to disc then open that up on your laptop.

The other way is going through the back ( I only run macs so never done this on windows so it flew names could be different) Go to c drive and there should be a iTunes folder in there, there should be a folder iTunes media then there should be a folder music this is where all you music is stored. You can just copy all these and transfer them over, it is longer but if you want to get rid of some songs you might as well go this way.

Yep, it's pretty much the same, just need to find the folder where your music is located by going through your folders in my computer and then you can transfer them over. Doing it that way is kind of handy as it does help you clean up and get rid of all crap and dud files that you didn't know you had in there as you go through the folder.
