Pretty much have decided that these are the go over the ipad2.
Would be interested in people's (Westsider especially) thoughts.
Comments I have read indicate that people who had both tablets were ebaying their iPad 2

Haven't used one.

I have an Iconia A500, but I just use it for general browsing while on the couch, facebook, draw something, few movies while in bed. Works great for what I use it for (inbetween a phone and laptop)

Theres a lot of apps being made to tablet use too which is good.

Best to go to JB's and play with both.

The old Galaxy Tab was better than the old Ipad and the new Galaxy Tab will be better than the new Ipad. Not sure when the new one is being released though, think mid year.
If you're comparing the old Galaxy Tab with the new Ipad then I'm not sure, the screen on the new Ipad might beat out the older Galaxy Tab.

I was talking about the 10.1v coming out mid year and there's a 10.1 that's been out here for a while I think?
The original tab came out a couple of years ago now I think.
The 10.1 is better than the Ipad2, I don't think the the Ipad3 had too many updates but might win as far as display goes.
It depends what you're after, if you want more customisation but aren't going to use it primarily as a media device then go the tab.
The Ipads would be easier to operate but are less customisable and the new IPads display is sensational and would still be the leader if you're going to watch movies, etc on it as far as I know. But there is the Itunes factor which drives me away from any apple product.
And android will have more apps, its just a matter of time.
Just do a bit of googling mate as you'll know what you primarily want one for, personally I can't see that I'd ever have a use for a Tablet as my phone is great for travel and I'd prefer a laptop for other stuff.

If is MS/Samsung then it will run Windows 8 not Android.

Business use or private use?

If business, the ability to run some windows apps could be an advantage for you (you'd need to check that out for yourself - you can view and edit office files on any tablet, but more features are available on a windows tablet).

If private (fun) use, windows won't do the job as well as either of the other two.

Business use Smac- running the business in a paperless format

Then it will depend on what features of office and other software you are after.

Basic features I'd still go for Android, advanced would be windows. 99% of people don't use advanced features.

Go play in some shops and see what you can do.

Closed ranks on all apple products isn't an upside in my books.

If I buy something I'd like to manage it my way, not Steve Jobs maniacal control influenced way.

The lack of USB on ipad is really annoying - I can't complain cause work gave me the use of one, but the ipad is like a pretty toy that only has limited use. I haven't tried Samsung, but I would definitely get one over an ipad if I had to buy something.

CNET's buyer's guide for Android tablets.

I'm waiting to see how a newer model of the Asus Transformer series turns out (current ones seems to have issues with weak GPS and Wifi reception).

Are you kidding?

1. Resource hog
2. Heavily restricted
3. Not user friendly
4. Expensive

Anyone else?
