Just announced that it will be available in Autumn and they're targetting March 1 for Australia and NZ.

It went live yesterday in the US.

awesome game, get on it. the delayed release in australia only stops you buying it from a store here. get it from amazon or other similar site and you could be playing it now! you know you want to ;)

I dont want to start a toon on a US server unless I'm 100% sure I can server transfer it easily when the Aus servers go online.
Looking for a replacement for wow as Im already through the new content from the patch 4 weeks ago and the Mists of Pandoria expansin wont be for a long time.

the aus servers will be located in the us anyway (all the worlds servers will be located there supposedly) and there are already heaps of aussies playing. pick the right server and it will be already heavily populated with oceanic players. ill pm you with a list of the servers that already have a heavy aussie guild presence if you like.

understand your point though, i am not trying to talk you into something you dont want to do, its just there are other options. and anyway, you could start a toon on a US server just to tide you over till march couldnt you? then start a new one when aussie servers start? just a suggestion :)

What class and race are you?

i am a Sith Warrior, and funnily enough my race is also Sith. i just got to level 12 last night so i have "specialised" as a dual weilding (2 light sabres!!) DPS. i couldnt resist the idea of two light sabres ;) it was either that or i was going to go a Sith Inquisitor with the sabre staff (ranged DPS). last night i was grouped with a sniper though and his gun was hitting bloody hard so i am toying with that idea. i reckon my problem will be too many choices!!

The Sith race also gets a pretty cool ability too, if i dont like what my companion says i can shock her with an electric collar  back to the kitchen with you!!

i think i have done all the missions on the starting planet, and am now running errands for another Darth, your first "master" you kill before you are able to leave the planet. i reckon i am well and truly hooked too, i am debating wether to persist with this toon for most or all of the way to the level cap and then start another, or start another one now and level them both together. supposedly once you reach a certain level on your first toon you get to choose a "surname" and any further toons you create will also carry that name so i will probably wait till at least then (supposedly it is around level 17 or so)

the group missions are good, you definately need to be paired up with at least one other person to get through them (i assume this is similar to WoW, i never actually played it though so am just guessing) and they arent always the "quick" type thing either, one i failed at last night took what seemed like forever, and then i died! oh well, back to do that one tonight. it was good though so ill see if one of my guild mates will join me rather than a random.

supposedly the best "Story" is to either be a Jedi and go to the dark side or go Sith and good. so far i am tracking on relatively neutral, just a touch on the dark side, although i think in future ill make more "dark" choices, just because i can. looking forward to accessing the "force choke" ability too, it seems that if you go sith sorceror you get the lightning fingers virtually straight away, whereas i havent got my magic choking fingers yet :( all in good time i suppose.

yeah it does look awesome, the flashpoints (i think thats what they are called) where you talk to the environment characters to get/complete quests are awesome. it is all spoken, even your responses. you can skip them if you want, but i havent skipped a single one yet. (it comes up as text too) the only part where it is slightly out is where a character isnt speaking english, they speak and then there is a large pause to give you enough time to read the subtitles, so far though most of the npc's speak english so it is all good.

Wont ever happen. Great games will always only be available on the PC whilst consoles will keep the kiddies happy.

ok, just read that once the oceanic servers are up and running in march/april they will actually be based here in Australia, not in the US with a different clock. they are also looking at a way to transfer any aussie toons to the new servers but have not confirmed 100% that this well be done.

seems i stuffed up my terminology from above. the "flashpoints" are quests that take plae in a seperate environment. it is recomended that they be undertaken in groups, and if you attempt them at the level you find them expect them to take one to two hours!!! i have mates that play as well, they are much further along in levels than me, and they claim that the first one that i have come across they can do in under an hour, but only because they are >ten levels higher than all of the npc's in there

just a note, hopefully you havent just started one when the wife walks in and asks you to finish on the pc so her mother can go to bed (damn mother inlaw staying over and "my" computer room doubling as the spare room.....) for some reason women dont seem to understand that they just have to wait till this "flashpoint" is finished as i cant save in the middle of it.....
