Can anyone help me find out where I would buy an iphone (not fussed if 3 or 4) outright, not on a plan but to use with a pre-paid SIM card? I've looked online at all the obvious places and can't seem to find any that aren't on plans.

Apple store have them, but probably not the cheapest option.

Depends whether you want new or 2nd hand... warranty or not.
You can get a 3GS or 4 cheap from Apple.

find someone that has unlocked pre paid iphones use the credit on the sim when u buy the phone then change over to you current one.
Think Telstra and Virgin do unlocked ones
