Bought one of these on the weekend, smashing little unit that wirelessly (with an adaptor, will connect wired with nothing but the purchase of a cable but I don't have ethernet cable access in the lounge) to the home network and streams any media from the network to the TV/Amp. Also has access to Youtube and Flickr, amongst other stuff.

Having to go through and actually organise my hard drive is the biggest hassle but already proving a hit with all in the family being able to sit outside with the laptop and send music to the amp and listen to it on the outdoor speakers.

Anyone else have one or something like it? Any tricks to share?

The media players are good. I've got an Xtreamer about a year ago, best $200 I've spent, but they are cheaper now 8)

Bought a PS3 recently and must admit to being pretty impressed with it. With Play TV it does all that and a whole lot more besides.

At the cheaper end, Zazz sometimes do a (approx) $60 HDTV / USB / STB unit which is fantastic value and quality.

Mine's since been pushed out the back room by the PS3 but it I still would thoroughly recommend it. Doesn't do online streams like the Western Digital though.
