Video Editing Programs

heeeeeeey kiddies!!!!!!

i'm making a DVD of my footy club, from the first preseason training right till to the end of the season.

what i'm after, is a program that is simple, as cheap as possible, and can come up with professional looking movies.

for instance, i've got a pretty particular style in mind for introducing the players and staff, and is as follows.....

i'll have a player running at me, jumping for a mark, but mid jump, i want the video to pause, with the background either going blurry/changing into abstract shapes of the existing background/changes color, while the subject of the shot (the player going for the mark) stays in perfect focus, then his name comes across the screen, disapears, then the video resumes as normal. it's something we've all probably seen at the start of an action movie or something.

i hop that makes sense to people! i'll try find a clip on youtube of what i'm looking for and post it on here for all to see exactly what i'm after.

any help/suggestions would be great!

ahhh...so that's what that "gogle" thingy is for? ;)

yes, i did do that, but i was hoping for someone that has maybe had some experience in the matter, and could suggest which one/s would be the best for what i'm after.

I use Power Director, can get it for under $100. I reckon it could do what you want. Try a Youtube search, plenty of demos of Director and from other editing programs on there.
