got a 32" for the bedroom with USB connection

but just purchased a 2 TB external hard drive which the movies will be stored on - can get about 300 movies on that

also got a portable external hard-drive which we will transfer movies we want to watch from the 2 TB hard drive onto and then either plug it into tv in the lounge or the bedroom

no more discs!!!!!!!!

Do you mean that if you have a movie file on a USB, you just put the USB into the slot in the TV and it brings up some kind of menu, and you choose the file you want? Then it just plays seamlessly? If that's what you mean, it sounds great...

Yep that's it mate.

I've got one. Download movies from the computer, copy to my usb and stick it straight into the tv or home theatre system. Brilliant. Now I don't have to worry about tiny scratches ruining an entire disc.

USB is better then using discs, Dutchys formula is also a very effective way.

how much more room will be created by not having endless movies taking up space around the place??

I just use a HDMI cable to plug my computer to my tv, very awesome! No need for a DVD/BR player. Get a twin HD tv tuner for my PC and I can get rid of my PVR.

Other tv I use my XBOX360 wirelessly to connect to my computer

You do know USB sticks are good for only so many reads and writes Dogger? You'll then have to buy a new tv when they don't work anymore.

That's a relief. I thought you'd have to buy a whole new house!

I've found I always need a newer, bigger, one before it reaches that point, however.
I've got a pocket in a divider in my desk drawer with several old ones labelled with what old files are stored on them.

My new computer has an HDMI output, but I never download movies, and I doubt if I've rented one more than 4 or 5 times in my life.
There is so much to do, and plenty on free to air when I want to watch TV.
