Postby The Ash Man » Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:26 pm

Hi Boffins

Whats the best/easiest way to transfer files from one laptop to another

I am buying a new laptop and want to transfer all my photos, etc from the old one to the new one

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also any advice on what to get laptop wise

I only use it for internet really, dont download anything really. Just need something simple.

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite

Thanks

I was once told that you can buy a cord/cable (at the time they said it was $50 or so) that you plug from old computer to new and it transfers them for you.
You get what you give....

You could buy an external hard drive and put everything on that. This way you can have a backup of everything and also can trasport it from 1 to the other.

I've got one of those cords Mum mentioned, it just plugs into each PCs USB port. About $10 from memory. You can also transfer stuff via the network be it by cable or wirelessly, move hard drives about, use an external hard drive, burn disks, use a flash memory, the options are endless.

Everyone will probably laugh?

I have heaps of memory sticks.

16Gig would be the best/easiest and cheapest for me.

Because I already have them.

I also have usb to usb but never used it...?

Makes sense to use it though. :D
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...
