New mobile phone with diary function??

Postby Stumps » Wed Aug 25, 2010 12:22 pm

Wondering if anyone has any advice on a mobile, I am due for a new plan and have been on the $49/mth 3Plan. For my new phone I am particularly looking for a phone I can use as my diary as well. I have a heap of appointments and would love a phone that I can plan my day/week easily. Internet browsing etc not necessary but would be handy
Any advice would be super
Cheers

The Iphone has a huge amount of "diary" apps.
If you're going to type that much into a phone you may want to consider a phone wih a slide out keypad or attachable keypad though, mind you I've learnt to type pretty quckly with the Iphones screen.

I've just got a Samsung Galaxy and it has a good diary function. Best part is, it has a handwriting option which is like an old palm pilot functionality wise. No need for keyboards (although you have the option if you want). You can use the keypad, the keyboard or handwriting text 1 or 2 (slightly different options contained within).

$49 (Optus plan) capped.

I ha similar features in my old phone as Gadg, it was a Palm Treo and I got it on a $29 plan with 3.
Don't think it's around anymore but there might be blackberry and androids worth looking at too.

Nokia N97 Mini does all of these things and is available for $0 upfront on the cheaper plans with most carriers. A very good phone, IMO.

Got my daughter one and she's loving it. Seems a good value phone.

Nokia 5800 is one my lad is using at the moment, also does all of the above functions without the slide out keyboard - it's purely a touchscreen input. A little more robust than the N97 and was only about $300 outright.

My cheap Nokia 7100 [$150 outright unlocked] has a diary and reminder system.
I haven't looked at it closely or used it so I don't know how effective or comprehensive it is.
[I bought the phone in Bundaberg in March and haven't gotten around to things like that, due to my health issues since.]

HTC Desire on Telstra $49 plan.

It's awesome, and you aren't handcuffed like the iPhone.
