ok. i'll try and keep this simple.
the missus and i have hired a holiday house for us and a few mates to stay in this weekend for our engagment party. we have paid $620 for the holiday house, which is fine.
the problem:
the owners of the holiday house emailed the details of confirmed payment and all that stuff, along with the details on how to obtain the keys for the house. (where they are hidden on the property) the problem is, we didnt recieve this email, and i noticed on my missus' account, that it said "emails from this account are being forwarded" so i went through the options and everything, and found that an option had been put in use for emails to be forwarded to a certain address, for my story's sake, lets say it is "stevepsmith4@hotmail.com (thats the sort of address it actually was, a blokes name) the missus has no idea where this address came from, or who it is. and can remember a few weeks ago, receiving an email stating that there was 3 failed attempts to logon to her account. these attempts werent made by me or her. i instantly deleted the option of this forwrding thing, called the owners of the holiday house, and told them i didnt receive the email with all the details. whilst still on the phone, the bloke went to his email account, and said on his end that it was definetly coming up as "sent". he sent it again, and i got it instantly.
now, my worry is that someone has hacked her account, got hold of this email, read and deleted it before we have even seen it, and they now can get access to this holiday home before we will.
am i over reacting, or are my fears a possibility? and is there a way i can find out where this "forwarding" email address came from?
