I tend to agree - my old Misubishiy CRT Monitors were sharper and faster than the LCDs I use now too.zipzap wrote:A few years ago I bought probably one of the last big Sony CRT flatscreens just as plasma and LCD because I was never impressed with either. While I rue the fact it takes up a lot more space than any of the newer TVs, I've still never seen a plasma or LCD that gets anywhere near it for clarity and sharpness, despite having a look every time I go to an electrical store or to a mate's house with a plasma

This is what I do for a living!!!
LED is certainly been massive since it came in, with Samsung being the front runner.
If there's no glare going onto the TV, then there's no real disadvantage with plasma... LG do one the you can pick up for about $700 (not full hd)

The technology has improved. When I was looking recently the difference wasn't that great, and of course the savings in price will pay for the extra electricity for years.Drop Bear wrote:Only thing that stopped me buying a plasma, is they like to guzzle energy.

[Realistically we have to find ways of supplying energy cheaply and cleanly - we are not going to go back to the whole family sitting around in woolly hats reading by one candle's light and warmth.]

I hadn't looked at LEDs which were just being released at astronomical prices at the time.Drop Bear wrote:Every Plasma tv I saw consumed almost 3 times the power of an LED LCD of equivalent size.Psyber wrote:The technology has improved.
