Ipod Error 2003 - won't restore

Hey Folks

I've got problems with my 2nd gen Ipod Touch.

It's now constantly in restore mode.

I plug it into Itunes.... Itunes says "it must be restored" and then proceeds to download the file but when it attempts to implement the file it comes back with "unknown error (2003)". So I'm caught in a loop.

I took it to Next Byte in town who went to restore it, and it worked fine. When I plugged it into my computer to sync it, it went back to restore mode.

So far I've:

Uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes 9.2 and 9.1.1
reinstalled drivers
changed USB ports
replaced the .itl file with a previous version

Next thing to do is possibly replace the ipsw file

But all things on the net point to it being "automatically" updated when you next restore. Mine just wont restore at all.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've spent the better part of 4 days on the net looking for solutions.

To make matters worse, I've got an ipod classic and have sync'd that one fine since these issues started.

Cheers

Gadj

Ok, it's been many days and many hours of frustration BUT I think I've worked through it. I noted this post:

Hold down the Home button for five seconds.
Keep it down, then start holding the power/sleep button for ten seconds.
Release the power button and keep holding the home/sleep button for about 30 seconds or so.

on this site:

and it has restored correctly.

I've posted this just in case anyone ever suffers the same fate.

I guess if you want the things slim and pretty you don't have room for a separate reboot switch..
[And of course there is the chance the loyal will just buy a new one if it is complicated enough. ;) ]

I think that's what Apple et al want to occur Psyber. I was almost going to give mine away and buy another one!
