Whats the easiest way to be able to have 2 monitors running at once?

is it possible to run the laptop as well as a monitor, or do i need to do it off the PC?

I do it quite often from my pc, you'll need a HDMI output (or DVI whatever its called) as well as the old VGA outpute to do it easily.
I know at work some PCs only have VGA outputs so they're not suitable for dual monitors.
There's probably laptops that have to outputs too but I havent had one yet, if you had half the screen on your laptop and half on a monitor it would be ugly.

I though most modern video cards offered twin DVI outputs for providing output to two monitors.
My laptop can run the internal or and external monitor or both, but you may need a specific input connector to use your laptop screen as one of two monitors from a desktop PC
